We live locally so we don’t stay at The Carlton Hotel but as a couple and as a family group we do dine in the restaurant occasionally. Our most recent visit was on 23rd December as a couple.We enjoyed a really delicious dinner and a tip top dining experience on all counts.Friendly staff make for a relaxing evening, no doubt this comes from the professional hosting experience of the owners. Lovely hotel in centre of illfracombe... I left my new coat and the staff not only found it but stored it for me to pick up after a week! Staff were subliminal, breakfast fantastic and big thanks to the lovely Kelsey on reception for giving me my coat back! It really felt like a family-run hotel as staff were all so amazing.Even the crazy lift to our second floor room was an adventure ?Would highly recommend to anyone visiting this beautiful seaside town.

We travelled from Nottingham and stayed 2 nights at the Carlton Hotel in Iilfracombe for our mini moon and couldn't of chosen a better place to stay the hotel is absolutely beautiful top decor very modern everywhere is spotless with lots of little homely touches about like scent candle burners and light dimmers which gives that romantic feel in the evenings when your sat in the lounge enjoying a drink or 2.. Our room was nothing less than perfect everything you need tea coffee sugar fruit teas hair dryer fan ironing board and iron large TV the bed very comfortable pillows amazing lovely and soft never went flat there's even room service! The bathroom was very spacious large shower the room had spotlights which just gave it such a nice feel to the room.. We opted for breakfast both mornings which is served 8 till 10 I think and has a large variety to choose from plus while your waiting you can have croissants toast cereal yogurts and fruit we couldn't fault breakfast at all.. Michael the owner will go above and beyond to make sure your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as you'd expect it to be.. nothing is to much for him what a lovely man he is he should be very proud with him self what hes accomplished here its such a beautiful hotel.. the staff are all so nice and welcoming the whole feel to the hotel is everything youd expect for a relaxing time away.. Thank you Michael we loved every min here and hopefully we can return one day ?

Great hotel, with lovely staff from the owns to all the staff that serve and clean. Food in the evening was so lovely but found at breakfast they run out very quickly on fruit and pastes. What was annoying... No ac in my room but supply a fan. Also, iron and ironing board and a kettle with some teas. Standard free view channel on t.v.. So yes I'd go back again and stay warning seagulls can be very loud but that's all over Ilfracombe

I always stay at the Carlton when in Ilfracombe. Extremely comfortable, modern hotel, good food and great staff. Everyone goes out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
What a wonderful hotel! We have just arrived home after staying for three nights, as we were attending a wedding at the Tunnels next door. Lovely modern hotel with nice facilities. The staff can't do enough for you and are very knowledgeable of the local area. Lots of recommendations made for food, entertainment and day trips.The breakfast is good if limited but nice choices so something for everyone. It is only served between 8-9am. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with all you need for sleeping and relaxing. I am so glad we chose the Carlton as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.Only one downside is that our room didn't have air-con so it did get quite warm in the evenings but the provided fan was powerful enough to keep us reasonably cool!

A great hotel that warrants being a bit more than 2 star..the breakfast was fabulous. The staff were all very helpful and the hot shower balsted the lovely soft Devon water. Would happily stay there every rime I come to Ilfracombe The location is spot on.

Best Cream tea ever !Booked a surprise cream tea for my Mother’s birthday. it was outstanding ! Micheal was so lovely and made my mum feel very special with a candle in a birthday cake.Super fresh sandwiches, divine freshly made meringue, delicious lemon mouse and so much more ..They even provided boxes for us to take the left overs in.Thank youThe hotel itself looked nice as well so will try staying here next time we are here.
