Great food and attentive service. We had the tasting menu which was excellent. Allow plenty of time. Atmosphere was good considering it was midweek.

Really good 5 course "secret tasting menu". The celeriac accompaniment to the main course was a revelation. This restaurant has improved immeasurably.

Just back from a fabulous 5 course surprise tasting menu at Twenty Seven. It was a fantastic meal - every course was delicious. We had the wine flight too and drank some excellent and very reasonably priced wines. The service was very professional and friendly. Only 3 stars on atmosphere because sadly the restaurant was quite empty - but it is a miserable February midweek night. So glad we ventured out to eat such a great meal.

We had the lunchtime tasting menu with the wine flight. The food and the service could not be faulted, it was simply amazing. Ensure you have the additional course of the scallop, it is perfection in food. The value for money of food of that quality I don't think could be matched. I just wish we lived closer.

A wonderful lunch in the upstairs restaurant at no. 27. The outside of the building is deceiving but it is delightful inside. The menu choice and flavours were a delight. Highly recommended amongst the other Michelin restaurants in South Devon.

Had the 2 course menu which came with a complimentary amuse bouche. The amuse bouche was a parsnip veloute. This was followed by turkey - rolled with stuffing with a turkey wing. Dessert was a pear and vanilla soufflé and mince pie ice cream. All delicious and nicely presented. Portions are as with fine dining so we were advised to take sides of potato and Brussels sprouts. Overall a good meal and experience.

Excellent fine dining. Everything I tried was very tasty including the turkey and soufflé. Service was very good indeed and prices were reasonable.

We have been dining at 27 since they opened in 2018 and have yet to have a less than fabulous meal but yesterday’s lunch was a sad surprise. We were the only customers for Saturday lunch, only 9 days before Christmas! Our 3 course lunch was wonderful, as always, and the service was excellent. So what’s going wrong with this fine dine, award winning restaurant? For a start it’s NOT the exciting, beautifully presented food. Jamie and his kitchen team are nothing short of outstanding. There’s no fault to be found with the service either - well trained, friendly and efficient. The wine list is a bit on the expensive side - Vigonier at £40 a bottle, when we have been buying an excellent Paul Mas one recently at £7.50 a bottle (normally £10) in Tescos is a bit hard to take. However, I can forgive them almost anything following their first class take away service, during Covid lockdown, and all the fabulous food we have eaten there over the years! It’s not the décor either, which is clean and smart. One has to conclude that in addition to many people’s current financial difficulties, perhaps a side street in Kingsbridge may not be an ideal location. Personally we would be very sorry if they moved but we really want to see Jamie, Claire and team get the rewards they so justly deserve and we can’t help thinking that Dartmouth might be a better location? Whatever the future holds we wish them a happy Christmas and a busy, successful 2024. xx

I'll start by saying that we opted for the midweek, reduced price set menu. If we were to have paid full price, I would have been more disappointed and scored lower. The food overall was mixed, but overall of fairly good quality. Only 2 courses did I actively enjoy (hake and venison). The risotto was over cooked, to me. The others had some good elements but didn't really work (salted caramel butter was delicious, but was quite strange with the soup. Basil was very distracting to the lemon dish in my opinion).Again, perhaps due to the "using up ingredients" idea of the menu, 2 citrus desserts seemed too much.It was also frustrating not to know what the courses were, even after we'd arrived. If we'd seen the menu beforehand, maybe we would have reconsidered - but maybe this is the idea? Captive audience? It is also impossible to pick a wine because you don't know what you are getting.Effort had gone into the food though, it just felt like some of the ingredients were quite bluntly put together. The majority of the reduced score was because of service, though. We tried to book via phone over the course of 2 days, and had no answer. We then booked online. When calling to confirm our booking on the night, the lady who answered was a touch rude. When arriving, the same lady didn't make any effort to welcome us at all, and said she'd get someone (front of house manager).I'd also advise you make the front door/entrance clearer and more inviting. We were seated, drinks order taken, and then didn't have our existence acknowledged for 30 minutes. No bread etc.The first course was very small (no problem with that) but it was then a further 35 minutes until the next course. At an hour and 5 minutes in, we'd had just an amuse-bouche. At this point we were getting very hungry, and there was no apology or recognition of the delay. Is this the norm? The whole thing took 3.5 hours with about 30 minutes between each course.Courses would quite often come with almost no word said by the waiting staff - the youngest waitress was most friendly. The food was quite good though, and perhaps if we'd have seen the menu beforehand or decided to go for a la carte, we'd have been happier with it. Then again, we would have been expected to pay double - at which point, I think the quality falls short of the Elephant Restaurant in Torquay for example, which would be the same price.I left feeling quite annoyed, which is unfortunate, given it was meant to be a midweek treat.Would we return? Maybe for a reduced price midweek a la carte.

Not UQUIT what we were expecting!Muscled our way through the crowd at the door queuing for the bakery takeout during a village Christmas market and were pointed upstairs to an empty, and rather chilly (actually cold) dining room. Were given the 'festive' menu; asked about the 2 course lunch advertised on the website - not available, only 3 course festive menu, website 'guy' has not updated the website (not sorry!). Don't make your problem my problem! Interesting, the only other party in the restaurant for lunch were advised on booking that the 2 course menu was available; again, not now available (manager say 'no'!).So we proceeded with the 'festive' menu. Some seriously good food here indeed! Serious 'chefing' with some quality ingredients. Lovely cod, though the sauce was a bit salty. We requested the bill; it was incorrect and grudgingly changed. Enjoyed the food, but not the setting. Obviously this weekend lunch was NOT the time to visit!Unfortunate, as it could have been good!
