Beautiful location - such a shame the food is so expensive and of below average quality. Everything is ridiculously expensive (£10 for mushrooms on toast). I had a cream tea - £9 for two scones, cream and jam - plus I had to pay extra for coffee as I don't drink tea! I decided to buy anyway as I'd not had lunch (and this is the only cafe in the area - no doubt the reason they charge so much!) - but the scones were revolting. I managed one but threw the other away. It was very soft and pappy - like a soft white bread roll - just horrible. I was so disappointed as I love scones. Lesson learnt! I would never return!!

I paid £22 for 2 very average/dry sandwiches & 2 soft drinks. I saw one lady working in the kitchen sneeze in to her hands, wipe her mouth with her hands & carry on!! 2 days later, I woke with sore throat & now both my husband & I have horrible coughs - don't think this is coincidence! Very bad practice, quite shocking.

Amazing, amazing, amazing! I cannot stress enough how amazing this place is every time we visit, we come back year after year and the service, quality and everything is brilliant and consistently good (I’m not sure what all these negative reviews are about ?) the service is amazing, the girls are attentive and polite and the lady who makes all the pies and scone has such a talent (if you’ve tried you know) we have always had such a lovely time here and will continue to come back

Cafe from Hell! For years this has been a must visit cafe, proper coffee and delicious cakes but not anymore. Had the most disgusting coffee in paper cups costing £7.70 which we were forced to throw away utterly undrinkable! Sales assistant truculent and unhelpful no interest in customer service. No toilet available now which is unreasonable. Directed to public toilets some distance up steep walk not suitable for anyone with poor mobility. Having previously been long term customers this will definitely be our last visit.

Terrible cost and terrible service. Asked for a scone with jam and butter and a coffee. was charged £11.80. It was eventually explained after we had paid that this was the cost of a cream tea with additional cost of a coffee and exchanging cream for butter. Was not offered or given a cup of tea or the cream! Strange logic and expensive meal. Will never visit again even though in the past we have been satisfied. The place, food and service have deteriorated badly. Poor customer service no help or assistance, only truculence..

My friend and I came her because the Lee Abbey Tea Cottage was closed that day and she said that a was lovely place to have tea. I was charged over £14.00 for 2 tea bags with hot water in a paper cup and two mediocre chocolate brownies wrapped in cling film. Really?

Food was lovely, lovely homemade fruit pies and cakes stunning setting but only outside seating so like us if you had walked to Valley of the Rocks and there was a downpour of rain there is only outside seating so food is spoilt. Such a shame and my only criticism of this unique cafe especially as I am certain years ago there was some inside seating.

My husband and I took my daughter and grandson, to the Valley of the rocks, a place we all enjoy, unforunately the day we went was Friday 25th August, not a good day was drizzly and raining, we went to the tea rooms for their excellent food only to be told we couldn't sit inside, other people couldn't understand why, also we were not allowed to use the loo, as it was locked, such a shame for a beautiful place with excellent food. Not impressed Margaret Albery

Called in for a hot drink after a rather windy walk down in the valley. Paid over a fiver for two cups of tea. Served in a paper cup, and tasted awful, real dishwater ! We had to walk away and leave it, and went back to our hotel for a cuppa. Have visited for many years, and had lunches or cream teas or cakes there , but this was definitely our last visit.

A lovely little stop. Stunning location with amazing scenery. Food and service were excellent. Prices were reasonable and a very large choice of snacks and meals available. Highly recommended. Would definitely use again if in the area.

No inside seating, had to pay cash if under £10 - our two coffees came to £7.70 and luckily we had cash - it's a clever way to get customers to buy something extra to make the money up to £10? We saw many elderly people struggling to walk 5 mins uphill to the car park toilet We could not believe that an establishment that serves sit down meals did not have a toilet? Also why serve coffees in paper cups at £3.85 each surely that merits a nice cup and saucer.

Beautiful spot for something to eat or drink. Quite a walk up the road if you need facilities, I’d have given 5* if the facilities were on site. With that being said it is well worth a visit.

Plastic-free mugs, crocks and cutlery, excellent vegan food, good portions. Toilets are a couple of minutes walk away, so be prepared. Car park right next door.
