Amazing little gem of a restaurant. The food was as good as I've tasted for a long time and the service was great.Unlike a lot of similar places currently the portions were generous and great value for money.First time we've been but will definitely be returning, thanks to all concerned for a lovely time!

Extremely impressed, probably the most authentic and good quality restaurant in Newton Abbot. Will be back very soon

What a delicious meal, and excellent service. I loved the Momos for a starter (little meat dumplings), and the lamb Base Camp curry. What was really good, was that - while restaurants face rising costs - all the ingredients were such good quality. No cost cutting. a lovely evening, thank you.

Tasty Kathmandu lager, good chefs specials based on Nepali style curries. Good momos (dumplings) in simple yet colourful small dining areas.

Fantastic food, great atmosphere and service. We have dined here on a number of occasions since moving to Newton Abbot, it is our favourite place to eat in the town. Family run, it is professionally run and clean with a great menu. We will be returning again and again. Thank you.

The only South Asian restaurant we go to in Newton Abbot. Good flavours, brilliant vegetarian options and not overly oily as you often find with curry. We usually have a selection of veggie curries, side dishes and bread, and get different combinations each time. I recommend the brinjal bhaji, it's delicious. Staff always calm and pleasant and the price is fair. My husband would go here twice a week if I let him.

A classic family run Indian, not professional looking but rather, Indian, waitress wearing authentic Indian dress and restaurant looks more like an indian eatery. The jungle I.e. "Camp" curry, one of the nicest I've had!.Highly recommended from the Indian food critique that happily gives 1 star reviews.I will certainly be back!, you've not seen the last of me!!!.Kid-friendliness: Has the Indian family run eatery feel.

Best Indian food in Newton Abbot in my opinion.Great selection of Nepalese food served alongside a great selection of Indian food.I can recommend the base camp curry if you like your food spicy.Got to try the vegetable tikka dish also, the tikka sauce was fantastic.Everything on the table including the rice and side dishes was presented beautifully and delicious. The building itself was a little small and more like walking into someone's house rather than a restaurant, but that almost gives it a more homely feel.I would highly recommend Gurkha Chef, I will absolutely be back and look forward to trying a load of items on the menu you won't find in the usual Indian restaurantsVegetarian options: The wife is vegetarian, and was over the moon to see so many vegetarian options.

We don’t have a take away often but when we do we use Gurkha chef , ordered our meal and it was delivered promptly. We were so disappointed not at all up to their usual standards. The sauces were sloppy and watery the coconut squid was so rubbery couldn’t eat it , the Chana masala was not good, so all in all feeling let down. Spent nearly £60, snd feel it was wasted.
