We went here on the Saturday for a meal and it was just lovely! My beef burger was one of the nicest burgers I've had in a while, and the steak was cooked lovely with so much flavour.

We are here on Saturday 16th May, the service was first class, friendly, attentive and not over bearing, we shared a starter of whitebait, we both had the tiger prawn and monkfish curry, which was unbelievably good, and both had a dessert of strawberry pavlova, again delicious, average prices for eating out nowadays, we will definitely be back.

We came in on special expecting normal cafe fair but tbh this place far exceeded expectations. Lovely staff and atmosphere and the food.
We both ordered jacket spuds with prawns and salad.
To start the plates themselves are lovely, the spud was well cooked with a nob of real butter, a generous portion of prawns in Mary rose and a fresh large salad. A proper home made salad dressing and decent black pepper and sea salt.
All for a very reasonable price.
This place is a gem.

We booked in for food, but were disappointed to be informed that the chef was unavailable (they did call us beforehand though). Eating out on a Tuesday is tricky in Ashburton! But we visited the pub anyway for a drink, and loved the ambience - lots of history, quirky little rooms, a charming beer garden, and friendly staff. We liked it so much that we popped in the next day! It's great to see a good selection of keg and cask ales too. Hopefully on our next visit we will be able to sample their pies! (but if not, I'd highly recommend Shahnaz Indian takeaway next door).

Really pleased with the welcome, friendly locals who say hi! Landlord was pleasant and helpful. Beer was good, although only one pumped ale when I went in but I liked it, good session ale.
Loads of eclectic interesting stuff inside, but really good menu!
The Food is honest! Honestly pricey and great, proper pub grub and fish and chips was cheaper than the local chippy! Great place for anything and I'd recommend a return soon!

The best Indian in Devon, not only was the lamb pasanda amazing, but the butter chicken was the best ive ever had. The service was impeccable, complimentary orange slices, shots (sambuca and coffee cream liquor) hot towels and a doggy bag for what we couldn't finish as portion size was great. Deserts were lush i had a coconut ice cream in a coconut shell, the pina colada ice cream sundae was awesome. Nothing beats the standard of food atmosphere and service 1000% recommend.

Double Luck Kitchen

I recently visited Double Luck, and I’m still thinking about their Special Fried Rice — it was absolutely amazing! The rice was perfectly cooked — light, fluffy, and full of flavor, with just the right mix of fresh vegetables, tender meat, and that irresistible hint of wok-fried aroma. You can really tell it’s made with care and skill.

Every bite had that perfect balance — not too greasy, not too salty — just pure comfort and flavor in a bowl. It’s one of those dishes that you could happily eat all by itself and be completely satisfied.

The rest of the food was delicious too, but the Special Fried Rice definitely stole the spotlight. If you’re visiting Double Luck, don’t leave without trying it — it’s easily one of the best fried rice dishes I’ve ever had!

Our son’s wedding at the Bickley Mill Inn was nothing short of incredible — from start to finish, everything was absolutely perfect.

The food was truly outstanding — 100% faultless and honestly some of the best we’ve ever had. Every course was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. It simply couldn’t have been bettered.

The service was just as impressive. The staff were exceptional — friendly, polite, and always on hand to help. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they went above and beyond to make sure the whole day ran smoothly.

Planning a wedding is never easy, but the team handled everything so professionally. The organisation was spot on, and they delivered a flawless day for our son and his bride. You could really see the care and effort that went into making it so special.

The venue itself is stunning, with beautiful gardens and a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. There was no rushing at all — everything was done in our time, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable.

We honestly couldn’t have asked for more. It was an unforgettable day, and the Bickley Mill Inn played a huge part in making it so perfect.

We cannot recommend this venue highly enough — absolutely 5 stars all the way!

First time visiting this lovely inn! We live in Devon and always like trying new places. Overall a 10/10, the waitress, I think her name was lolz? Was incredible! I hope the owner reads this and lets her know how good of job she’s doing as a credit to the business. Food was delicious, first time trying beef wellington! I thought the menu was very different and was interesting to see different dishes rather than the same old stuff you get at restaurants. The inn itself is beautiful and has so much charm. Superb lunch for four today. Certainly not pub grub. Had wow porchetta w butter beans and chorizo that was sublime. My husband had two starters amd friends vension burgers. Shared a complex and delicious chocolate pudding. Coffee was first class. We were late w our five mile walk taking us ten minutes longer than anticipated. We phoned to let them know when we got signal. Not a problem; we were welcomed late. Lime and soda bloody delicious. Not sure why it has taken us do long to discover. Coming back.

Love the choice of sweets but opening days and times seem to keep changing. Was going to buy some ice cream for someones birthday treat today but you were unexpectedly closed. Maybe next time amend your website do i dont have a wasted journey.

This establishment has always been my go-to Chinese restaurant in the area. Despite having relocated, we occasionally visit and are pleased to find that the quality of the food remains exceptional. The flavors are consistently fresh and delicious, making it difficult to find a better Chinese dining experience elsewhere. We had a salt and pepper box to see what the hype was about. So much flavor.

Parking: Good central location between housing and industrial estates, two minutes from the A38 expressway. Large parking area out the front, in behind, down the road, on the road and on the road opposite all free.

Kid-friendliness: Staff are helpful and friendly, lots of children friendly portions available.
