Great atmosphere, fantastic staff, amazing food. Busy, definitely need to book, and the one criticism is we felt maybe they'd squeezed in one table too many, but it wasn't a problem. Our server was in that rare breed, certainly for a pub - perceptive and aware, yet discreet. Timing was spot on - when we were actually ready to order there she was, there was just the right gap between courses, etc. It was more than coincidence - it's something that's hard to get right and she got it spot on, whilst managing to appear that she was genuinely enjoying her job.Excellent vegan and vegetarian options, huge range of fish, plus everything else too.Traditional thatched pub done right, as borne out by reviews and popularity.Vegetarian options: Vegan and vegetarian menu, recommend the nut wellington - excellent.Dietary restrictions: Separate vegan and vegetarian menu with decent choice, gf options clearly marked.

Our second visit here whilst on holiday. The food was so good, my husband said the burger was a bit too salty for him but didn't stop him from eating it.The only issue was that there was no apparent vegan option for my little girl(she has a milk and egg allergy). The young waiter asked the kitchen staff but there wasn't anything on the menu, and they couldn't downsize the adult vegan option. So my daughter just had a side of chips and beans.It would have been 5 stars if my daughter's needs could have been catered for better, but over all a really lovely experience again.

Was passing through and found this gem on google maps. Tucked in behind a fishmonger of the same name; I thought to myself - that bodes well! My cod and chips was cooked fresh to order and the staff are friendly and have an efficient system going on.The fish - was without a doubt the nicest bit of cod I’ve ever had in my life. It was perfectly cooked, big flaky chunks of white fish in a light and crispy (not too oily) batter. My only regret was not buying a large portion. 100% will be going back for more. Must be the best place to get food in Newton Abbot, and the price was spot on as well.

This temple of deluxe Chinese food is not just the best in Newton Abbot (low standards by the way) but potentially the greatest takeaway in the world. As a food connoisseur, I would give this takeaway approximately 5 Michelin stars, highlighting how impressed I was at the food on offer. The service was immense, as the young girls treated me nicely, as I rolled in with my wheelchair, and the boys at the back of the kitchen also waved to my young children, which made their day. Plus a good selection of round the world deli items and wines and all the gear needed to make the best paella. Always busy around festive seasons so order or visit early! We've been using Nick & Michelle's deli since it opened and have never once been anything less than charmed, satisfied, happy and ultimately so well-fed.

Second time visiting creeping thyme, the first being in their original Bovey Tracey location, this time at their new premises at Seale Hayne. The new setting is absolutely beautiful; the little bar area being dark and cosy and the restaurant being light and airy and sophisticated, the grand piano being a beautiful addition to the space. The service was super friendly and relaxed, and as we were there for a birthday we were offered a celebratory drink which was very kind and unexpected. The food was absolutely phenomenal, every morsel on every plate being perfectly cooked with amazing flavour, and each dish as a whole was expertly balanced by a very talented chef. I really hope Creeping Thyme thrives in its new location as this place deserves to be booked out weeks in advance. So happy there is finally a nice high end restaurant in the Newton Abbot area and we'll definitely be back.

My husband should take credit for this amazing discovery. We hadn't previously visited Ashburton before today but would return just to eat here again. Delicious veggie food and I enjoyed my first tumeric latte. I opted for the Sri Lankan eggs with my husband going for the Vietnamese baguette. Children went for the cheese on toast. Loved the decor and vibe, and from the outside, you don't realise the size. Very highly recommended.

A truly pleasant & restful stay at this charming B & B. The accommodations are well appointed with everything you should need, the management could not be more helpful. While our stay was in the very early part of January 2024 & the outside temperatures were really cold but our room was really comfortable & we had a comfortable night. The Tea Rooms are on the ground floor & this is where we had our breakfast. My partner is very gluten allergic but she was very well looked after. Our first morning I had an excellent Full English & on the second morning I had scrambled egg on toast with bacon & the scrambled eggs were truly fabulous.Food & drinks: Good food cooked really well

Really lovely pub restaurant. We came the other day without a booking and despite all the reserved table the staff kindly fitted us in for a meal. Staff were really friendly and welcoming. Food was gooooood, really nice food and super good value for money. Portions were very generous. I had the steak and ale pie followed by sticky toffee pudding. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. We would come back again if we are in the area.

We thought we’d give it a go and were not disappointed. Best coffee and walnut cake I’ve eaten in ages and the coffee itself was pretty good too. Staff were very friendly and we’ll definitely be returning soon.

Fantastic! The only vegan option on hand was focaccia which is not usually my favourite, but Beachwood's was so good it's made me a new convert. And the take home basic sourdough is simply outstanding. Looking forward to returning whenever we're in the area!

Wellington Inn

Was staying at a nearby campsite and rang for a table on the night they managed to fit us in, asked for directions and walked to the pub single lane and sometimes no pavement arrived 30 mins later ordered food an it was amazing the turkey and ham pie was to die for. The portions were large and great value for money really good atmosphere and really warm with the log burner, just what you need on a chilly night. We asked the landlady for taxi numbers but as the pub is quite rural she mentioned it might be a long wait, great place to wait in though. Was going to ring when one of the girls serving behind the bar offered us a lift back to the campsite…..what an absolute gem ? we would definitely recommend the food and the atmosphere really friendly, will definitely go back
