Fabulous carvery, delicious dauphinoise potatoes, and the beef melts in the mouth. Really lovely service from Katrina, we spent a few hours with 6 kids and 3 adults, all had empty plates and Katrina met our every need, with a smile. She also reminded us to get the kids eat for a £1 vouchers online.Thank you and we will be back.

I recently had an outstanding dining experience at Toby Carvery in Newton Abbot. The service was impeccable—friendly, efficient staff who enhanced our visit. The carvery offered a delicious array of perfectly cooked meats and fresh sides. The warm atmosphere and reasonable prices make it a fantastic value. Highly recommended for a delightful meal!

Visited for Christmas Lunch with my Partner and three children. Couldn't have been more disappointed with our experience. Service was awful, staff running around like headless chickens trying to serve people dessert when they had only just been seated. Waited 40 minutes between each course, drinks were served in inappropriate glasses, table wasn't set properly. Food was extremely disappointing also, tiny portions and nothing like as described on the menu. Not at all worth the nearly £300 it cost me for the 5 of us. It put a downer on our whole day. Would not recommend and will never be returning.

Christmas day meal for family of 7, very short staffed due to illness, bit of a wait for starters but nice, carvery excellent choice meat and veg and puddings nice, well worth the money and hassle of washing up on Xmas day, all staff obviously busy so not as attentive as usual but pleasant enough Would do again

We just had our Christmas carvery lunch. It was a 3 course meal for £60.99, with drinks extra. I guess the higher cost was due to the fact that it was on Christmas Day itself, as the carvery seemed to be very much the standard carvery. Anyway, it was an enjoyable meal especially since someone else had cooked it and did the clearing up!
We had Christmas Day lunch at Toby Carvery. The smoked salmon and prawn starter was very tasty. I had roast beef and roast lamb for the carvery and these were tasty, tender and succulent. The Yorkshire pudding was large and crunchy and there was a very wide selection room of vegetables and potatoes. Finally, for dessert, I had a rich Christmas pudding with brandy sauce which was very delicious. All in all, a very satisfying Christmas lunch. Excellent service. Very friendly, helpful and polite staff.

I have to say we were extremely impressed with the venue, service and food. These days too as everything is so expensive the food was really well priced. We had our family Christmas dinner here and were a party of 19. We were seated in the conservatory area which was absolutely perfect for such a large party. The kids had plenty of room to play, we were allowed to let the children open their Christmas presents there it was a fabulous evening. I really would recommend this restaurant to anyone wishing to have a large family gathering and we will definitely be booking all of our forthcoming family birthdays, Christmas gatherings there in the future.

Visited Sunday - Absolutely disgusting could not eat it my husband waited 10 minutes for potatoes to be delivered by a very unprofessional chef who just chucked them down half shot off and fell to the floor. I took very little veg as only the dregs left very dry and potatoes so hard could not cut them. Paid and left did tell waitress who didn’t really care won’t be back and won’t recommend.

Food quality was good and good value, as usual. There was no welcome, just a shout across the bar to find our table. We had to go to the bar to order our drinks, which took a long time to arrive (we had to ask). The restaurant was very quiet so I assume that all staff had left by 14.00. There was no queue at the food counter and all food looked fresh and hot. A vegetarian selection was available, but not to our taste so we stuck to vegetables, which were very good. Disabled toilets were locked, which was difficult for one of us, as the alternative involved many stairs. Toilets were clean. There was no-one available to bring us the bill so we went to the bar to pay. We have been to this Toby before, which was better. This time it was disappointing and we were pleased to leave.

10 of us came for Christmas carvery. 4 of us had a starter which we had to wait over 50 minutes for. Mine the garlic mushrooms was tepid. Felt obliged to eat it as the others were waiting patiently for the carvery. The carvery was tasteless I had Turkey and beef .The beef was gristly. The veg what was out was tepid. The cauliflower cheese was cheesesless. Lots of veg had ran out. The Gracey needed replenishing. The deserts well don’t get me started. The profiteroles were still frozen. The waitress started clearing the dinner plates whilst some of us still eating. Paying was a night mare the woman in charge didn’t seem to know how to do the bill. I paid for a coffee. The lady who organised our lunch went pay the rest of the bill and was charged again for my coffee. The woman in charge was very rude to us.we havehad several Christmas meals as a large group the Toby carvery. We won’t be coming back.
