Cafes in Okehampton

“This is a nice place to stop off at if you're looking for a quick bite and refill some lost calories. We had takeaway coffees which were ok, but better than going to large chain coffee houses. The brownie was good, but the chocolate almond cake was a small portion so 3 mouth fulls and it was gone. We didn't realise you can sit upstairs where you can see the river, which would have been way better to look at than watching standstill traffic in the main part of the cafe. There's plenty of gluten free options, savoury and sweet for the gluten intolerant. Plenty of room inside for mum's and pushchairs. It's wheelchair friendly but no hope if you need to go to the bathroom. There's free parking for 1 hour in the Public / Coop carpark next door which should give you time to refill thd hungry kids tummies and double down on your coffee addictionDietary restrictions: Plenty of gluten free options and varieties of milk on offer”

“Called in on our way to Tavistock for a 3 night break. The coffee's and tea cakes were sooooo good that we called in on our return journey. The owner was extremely nice, as were the locals who chatted to us and gave the place really nice atmosphere. Highly recommended.Kid-friendliness: Very welcoming for children, toys, books etc to keep them occupied.”

“Nice cafe with a cosy feel.Staff were friendly and kept the place clean and tidy.Toilets were clean and smelled fresh.Dogs are allowed in as there are dog water bowls out.Food is local and nicely cooked. We had full English and have to say the sausage was tasty. The beans were their own recipe and will not be to everyone’s liking. But plenty of food.Pot of tea for two … not usually something to rave about but how often do you order tea for two and just about get 1 1/2 cups each? We got 3 cups each and still had tea in the pot .. bonus. It is more costly than others but we weren’t disappointed. There is a children’s play area. They do takeaway meals, sandwiches and cold drinks, fresh bread and more.Well worth a try.Kid-friendliness: Small play area for them.Wheelchair accessibility: Wide door ways and no steps. Not sure on toilet accessibility.”
