Ma'ida
37 Fore St, OkehamptonVery polite & patient, food delicious & good service. One star lost because my friend had to ask for some back ground music, & the restaurant is too warm when you're sat so close together & eating spicy food! ?( Not just me, 4 others were too warm too). When I book again, I will mention it to them, no good being a typical Brit about these things - if they don't know, they can't fix it! ?

Rajpoot Indian/ Bangladeshi Restaurant And Takeaway.
Bridge House, 25 Fore St, OkehamptonBittersweet! For takeaways, 10/10, 100% recommend! For dining in, I would not recommend I'm afraid. It becomes unbearably hot and uncomfortable to the point you just can't eat. It'd been so long since we dined in, we'd forgotten this aspect. When food came, things were wrong, but that was okay, mistakes happen, but then our bill was also incorrect. It was handwritten and ineligible. We needed to split it, so we used the menu to add up our choices, and each rounded up to make sure a tip was left, but once everyone had paid, we were still short. When questioned, they became quite frustrated and weren't willing to help to see where we/they may have made a mistake, so that was disappointing. They did tend to take drink orders, which didn't arrive, so perhaps it was the missing drinks that were added? Or the wrong food? It just became a stressful evening that had othwrwise been lovely, so, no, I would not recommend eating in, but I absolutely recommend them for their takeaways, one of the best Indians I've ever experienced!

Greggs
Bratton Clovelly, OkehamptonRandom services stop whilst driving - chose Greggs over the BK next to it. I had a corned beef pasty and a donut, with a hot choccy, yum! Pasty was fairly hot, not warm like it had been sat there all day. Not too much seating in the whole place, but we got a seat whilst the rain shower passed, then we left.

Takeaway Restaurants
The Countryman
Crediton Rd, OkehamptonWhat a wonderful carvery! You have got to book. Otherwise, there is no chance of getting a table. The amount and quality of the meat was outstanding. The slices of meat were at least a centimetre thick, which is unheard of where I live. The choice of vegetables seemed endless and constantly replaced. The owner was a cheery happy chap who was very visible having a laugh with all the customers. I would have no hesitation in returning fir another enjoyable experience!!

Hog & Hedge
Exeter Rd, Whiddon Down, OkehamptonFirst off I'd like to recommend the company to be renamed Heg and Hog, dont ask questions it just works. But most importantly we had a 10/10 breakfast at your establishment, great quality food and a good selection of items. However I think a smaller portion of the heg and hog English breakfast for the young and weak would be a good idea as yours

Graylings
38, Red Lion Yard, OkehamptonTried this place this evening, generally all fine. fish really succulent and nice chips .My only negative comment is regarding the Male server on the counter ,whilst not rude, he just seemed to not understand goodcustomer service .I asked if I could simply have a teaspoon of their curry sauce to check if I would like it with my fish n chips . This got a flat refusal ,first excuse was it was individually heated up in separate pots I saw for myself that there was a separate ladle and urn for the currye sauce , as well as pots so easily sourced ,then he says they cant spare a sample .Jesus wept what a jobs worthy minion who needs urgent retraining on customer service to ensure satisfaction.Just simply petty behaviour letting down his employer ,and damaging the brand. Retrain him .

OkehamptonA great place to break your journey and have some food and drink. Good food and friendly staff. The London Inn
Morchard Bishop, CreditonLovely country pub in the middle of nowhere! Went here for a wake which was being held here one afternoon. Food was absolutely delicious, and I loved the ambience of an old country pub with a dog by the wood fire ! Would definitely make the trip out here.

London Inn
School Hill, LiskeardWe have eaten here a few times over the years after walks across the nearby moors or after a nearby cold water swim in the sea, and we have never been disappointed. After a relaxing weekend of stillness and getting back to nature in the beautiful Cornish countryside, come Sunday we wasn’t ready to go back home and cook. We booked our Sunday table the night before with no fuss. However, it is likely that as the season progresses, more advanced bookings would be prudent - to ensure you get a table.Set in the beautiful village of St Neot, the Inn is very popular and generally always busy. This establishment has a lovely atmosphere and the feel of a proper traditional cosy inn, with many of its original features and charm around the building. The staff here are very professional, friendly and welcoming. And, it’s dog friendly! There is a good selection of drinks. Although, a limited choice of whiskeys on offer. But, the pint of draught Dartmoor Legend is always well kept here. The menu is simple and with a good selection of vegetarian and vegan options available. There is also some great meal deals on throughout the week worth checking out. We had the nut roast on this occasion and it was good pub food. Unfortunately, and in our opinion however, the side dish of vegetables to share between two was a little sparing. We have had beef on other occasions, and that has generally been cooked well. Oh, and their sticky toffee pudding is delicious! The pub has a lovely small terrace to the front that is south facing and catches the warmth of the sun perfectly. There is parking out to the front of the inn, but it is limited to around 6-no. vehicles. Otherwise, there is parking along the lane in either direction but again can be limited because of local resident parking and driveway entrances.Overall, even though this is a free house, it is more tailored towards being a restaurant than an actual inn, the food here is good hearty ‘pub grub’ food that is reasonably priced, and it is set in a beautiful traditional old Cornish inn that is full of character. We would recommend a visit!

The Green Dragon Inn
Miltown Ln, Northlew, OkehamptonWe have recently spent several weeks in Northlew and many nights we had dinner at the Green Dragon, so had the chance to try many of the items on their menu. From the Sunday roast, to pizza night, to fish and chips and everything in between, all was just yummy! Additionally, the owners Dan and Carla, and the staff including Alex , Tracy, Vicky, Grace, Beth and Callum were simply the best, while the villagers were constantly welcoming. The atmosphere in the pub and the comforting food made a difficult personal time much more bearable…..thanks to everyone and can’t wait to come back to Northlew and the Green Dragon.

The Tors Inn
Belstone, Okehampton8 of us booked for a late Saturday lunch, arrived through the swirling mists of Dartmoor to a nice old pub, very cheery and welcoming staff. Beers were excellent, poured straight from the barrel. The meat based pies were fantastic, great chunks of tasty meat in a rich gravy with a rich pastry case. The vegetables alongside were not overdone and tasted great. The fish pies were a little disappointing, quite a lot of piped on potato and not much fish filling. Would definitely go again.

The Kings Arms Inn
South Zeal, OkehamptonVisited twice for dinner as was staying down the road on holiday. First night didn’t book as was a Monday, second we did book as was a Friday night and luckily got a table. Both evenings food was lovely! Food isn’t expensive so wasn’t sure what to expect as although pub is clean and cosy it is a traditional pub with sticky tables. Could not have been more surprised by the clearly home cook food. Really good portions too! Service was really friendly also! Plenty of choice of drinks too. Would return if holidaying here again.

The Old School Tearoom
Belstone, OkehamptonLovely little quirky tearoom. We were staying in the house on the green opposite so literally a one minute walk for us. We had prebooked as we were a party of 13, the day before I had dropped in some napkins and table decorations and the owner kindly put them on our table as a surprise for my mums 80th birthday. Scones were freshly made, at least four different types of homemade jams and clotted cream, nothing was too much trouble. The gluten and dairy free member of our party was also well catered for and had a choice of scone, cake or flapjack. Lots of maps and historical information dotted around. Would highly recommend if ever in this beautiful part of the country.
