Easy last minute booking as were in Salcombe and tired. Literally phoned up, made booking and turned up at hotel 15 mins later and everything was ready. Good car parking, lovely room and very pleasant and friendly staff. Booked in for dinner too and the good was excellent. Dog friendly which was why we chose it. I left a lot of sports kit on roof of my vehicle in the car park and was totally safe

Excellent cream tea. Lovely scones, plentiful jam & cream all served promptly & politely whilst we enjoyed lovely views of the beach & sea. Easy parking of our town minibus in the hotel car park.

We stay here every year and it never fails to delight. The staff are friendly and efficient and breakfast is always exceptional. We stay in one of the beach suites. It has become home from home. Can't wait until next year!

We ate at the restaurant but didn’t stay at the hotel.Service was friendly and efficient. Food was very good quality and served in healthy proportions. Wine selection was vast for a restaurant of this size. Glad wet came here instead of the Harbour Hotel.Dog friendly, many tables had dogs with them.

I don’t usually write reviews. But the fish and chips served here are probably the best I’ve ever had, not an exaggeration. They were ???Highly recommend.

I stayed in the Hotel for one night and had one meal and I was not impressed at all with our meal. Firstly, the person at the door was not friendly at all and sounded like she didn’t want to be there. Then, when our order arrived we where given completely wrong things, and then the woman said “Oh well that’s not a problem is it?”. After that, we ordered some more fries and another woman rolled her eyes after we asked for some sauces when she gave it to us. Not impressed, don’t recommend.Food & drinks: Read my initial review, it has my opinion on the food service.

Wonderful hotel in the Salcombe area. Very colonial style over the south beach. Great food as well with extensive wine list and glorious views.Money aside (it’s expensive but given area probably acceptably so), the only weak point was in our view the room temperature as it was marginally on the warm side despite the weather being positively chilly for early Aug. Can’t imagine what it would be like on a weekend of 30C…

Never stayed here but the food was lovely and service was good.

We had a fabulous stay at South Sands Hotel. Pre arrival the team were fantastic in helping with room selection as my father has reduced mobility. The suite was perfect and he was able to join us on the beach daily. The restaurant has the most fabulous views and the staff were so lovely. We will definitely be back. Can’t recommend more highly. Completely lived up to our expectations and we had fantastic weather. Thank you

The real strength of this establishment is the quality of the staff and the level of service. We found them completely faultless. The food quality is great from the lovely breakfast through to the evening meal. Beware of the club sandwich in the afternoon, it's enough for two easily and tastes great. Our room was on the landward side of the hotel, so we didn't get the fantastic views of the bay. The only minor downside is that these rooms get the setting sun and so have gotten very warm by the time you retire. There is a fan provided but if you need a cool room to get a good night's sleep then I'd recommend that you upgrade to a sea view. I've included a view from the balcony outside the restaurant, the view is lovely.
Went for lunch great menu options. When we rang to book we were informed we couldn't take our dog, but when we got there others had their dogs with them and the very next table to ours they had their dog so we were a bit disappointed with that info. No complaints though food was lovely ..wine options were a bit on the dear side we opted for the house wine which was very nice . Superb views . Worth a trip

The room was really nice and cosy, and really homely. The staff were very welcoming and polite. The location of the hotel is exceptional. It's located right next to the beautiful beach.

We come a few times a year and are never disappointed! The staff are all so friendly and always go the extra mile to make us feel special and welcome. The rooms are so comfortable with lovely decor, love the l’occitane toiletries! The views are incredible, the location is second to none. There’s lots to do in the local area. We will continue visiting for as long as we can!

Lovely out of season mini break. Great location right on the beach, room was fabulous and had everything we needed and more especially the shower, which was awesome. Dog friendly, she was really looked after too. We will be back - thanks again
