Excellent place right on the beach and perfect for lunch. Great food, very casual dress code (wetsuits, dry robes, wet weather gear etc) not an issue. Only reason didn't get 5 stars is because of ordering system. QR code on the menu where you pay for meal and service charge before a dish has been served. If you want more drinks or dessert back to the phone to pay for more. There's more than enough staff to have a proper ordering service throughout.

I would say there is something lacking unfortunately, I think they have taken advantage of the pandemic with the QR code ordering system, I don’t have an issue with ordering online but it really is a pain on their app, it actually doesn’t remember your details, so more than one order you have to re enter all your details ?‍♂️! The food is very average, but could be amazing with just a little more effort. It feels like a member of staff that has given up a bit, but needs a good injection of enthusiasm to become really great again! Would love to give 5 stars because of regular visits over the past few years but unfortunately it needs a good dose of enthusiasm ?!

Fantastic late lunch. You cannot reserve tables and so we went expecting to be told that we would have to wait for a table. However, our party of 5 were taken straight to the table. Very efficient ordering and serving system and food was exeptional and excellent value. Really cannot fault what is offered here! Thank you

Had a lovely lunch but shocked when we got the bill. Had four sandwiches, three soft drinks and a pint of beer and it came to £75+. It’s a fabulous fun place but a bit overrated. Prime position on the beach. Big car park so all very convenient.

Overpriced and over rated. Hate the self service online order system. And they have the cheek to ask for a tip in the order process before you've even been served. Bread cheap supermarket prebake ,chips cold and dried out. Had to.ask for spoons for the soup. Soup should have come with bread but inly got bread with the olives.

Down the road towards South Sands. A nice walk along the coast. I think we could have taken the ferry to South Sands and walked back . Maybe next time. Queue up and the lady gives you a menu and shows you to a table. You order online, using the QR code on the menu, which I had never seen before. We were only there for coffee, so it might have been a bit over the top. Helpful waiter came out and took our order the old fashioned way, possibly thinking that we were slow and struggling. Dude, I'm an IT geek, I was exploring the website! There are tables inside, but I don't think that anyone was using them. It was nice to sit in the shade under the umbrella and watch the world go by

Very disappointed in the service and welcome . Staff were verging on rude ! Have been many times at various times of the year but sadly despite location won’t be rushing back .

Enjoyed lunch at The Winking Prawn. Good menu, and prompt service. The steak baguette was delicious, and the servings of prawns that my friends had were very generous. The place is a family-run business and the staff were friendly and professional. Despite a November visit in the rain, the restaurant was pretty busy and there was a really good atmosphere. It would be great to visit in the summer too, when all the outside spaces will be open.

We are staying in a posh hotel but wanted a change, we had walked past the Winkling Prawn earlier and saw that it had good reviews - the reviews weren’t good enough! The food was really good and other tables who had sharing dishes looked epic! I wish this wasn’t a holiday so we could come here regularly - yup that good! Thank you Winkling Prawn.

Sad could be amazing. You have to use qr code to order really sad. No personal touch you're shown to a table by a member of staff gives you a menu, and that's the end of personal touch. Food ordered by app, was delivered by a grumpy man. Pint of prawns was poor quality frozen sad. Scallop salad 6 small scallops between £1 &10p size sad but have to say the salad was not your usual boring lettuce leaves, it had mixed leaves seeds beens and peas tasty. The best thing was the Po Boy tasty greater than the rest even though probably frozen and cheapest item were better than expected. Our drinks we had to ask for after the food arrived, so clearly the food things are already prepared ready go out worrying and sad when your paying £24 plus for scallops you expect fresh to wait a little not the case here food arrived less than 5 minutes after order even though was busy. Staff look so bored 8plus staff on but not interacting with customers due to app. Ask for gratuity while ordering, and paying yet nothing offered as app dictates what happens sad. I had my foot swept by staff cleaning the floor by tap tap, brushing the floor next time, luckily they missed my foot but twice in 20 minutes and nothing dropped or change in tables shows staff are trying to look to or being told to do things to make them busy rather than scrapping crappie app and bring back customer service

Very good, very kind. Lovely. Stopped off on a walk, had a lovely (if a little pricey) coffee. Staff are very kind. Our needy dog got a free sausage. Great place.

We walked from Salcombe Town to The Winking Prawn. It’s a gorgeous walk.We have been there before but not since lockdown, so it was lovely to be back.I had a delicious crab sandwich and chips, my husband and I sat outside, under an umbrella, as it was warm, but drizzly.Staff were lovely and friendly.A simply gorgeous spot, rain or shine. We will be back.

Ate here in May - WOW! The food is amazing and the staff are too! Just a complete gem of a restaurant in a lovely place. I had the whole dressed crab and I thought I wouldn’t be able to finish it but I did! Back down next week and we will be eating here again then. Thoroughly recommend ?
