Went for my husbands 40th and what a treat. Superb local seafood and great service with a beautiful view over the bay. The owner was very knowledgeable about the local area and happy to have a chat and the chef was able to accommodate my dairy allergy so I could still enjoy the wonder dishes on offer. Will definitely be returning and would recommend without hesitation. A must visit for those who love seafood - the oysters and mussels were amazing.Dietary restrictions: Restaurant was easily able to make dishes dairy free for me.

Chris took prodigiously good care of us from start to finish. We remarked on how impressed we were with the wine list which led to him sharing an endless source of great addresses for our stay with good wine and food. We shared a whole brill which was perfectly cooked ("brill-iant" dare one say) and so tasty. Starters and desserts were equally exquisite and we felt spoiled to no end when Chris offered us a glass of pear eau de vie to close out what had been a beautiful evening. Don't go to Sidmouth without visiting. We can't wait to go back.

Sadly not too many guests but out of season. Chris, the host, was very friendly. Great food.

Cannot rate this place highly enough. Beautiful setting, staff and vibe. Chris, the owner made me feel very welcome and would deffo return again.. I didn't actually eat this time around, but the menu looked superb and the chef was cute too! Be prepared to dig deep, but it's totally worth it. Cheers Chris for a lovely time! L x

My wife and I with two friends have just enjoyed a fantastic meal at the Pea Green Boat this evening. I had the calamari to start and for mains the Battered cod and Chips which was super. But the star of the show was our friends, who ordered the Brill. I managed to try some and have to say It was first class and would not look out of place in a Michelin starred restaurant. I’m never disappointed when I visit the Pea Green Boat, the food is top class and the service is fantastic. If you are visiting Sidmouth and want a top class meal I highly recommend booking a table..

We visited The Pea Green Boat on a long weekend to Sidmouth. So glad we did.The food is sublime.Supremely sourced produce selected by Chris, the owner, and exquisitely cook by his chef. Chris is uncompromising on his ethics on quality. The Calamari were super fresh with a homemade aoli and pickled veg on the side. Our mussels were from a different planet!! A huge terrine of juicy plum morcels in wine ,cream and provencal herbs, served with sourdough bread and perfectly cooked golden.Never, ever have i experienced such sweet, tender meats in my life, i was in heaven. ( locally sourced by Chris, i later learned.)The restaurant is cosy but efficiently run by Chris and his team. A joy to visit and a pleasure to eat there. Ensure you book. It gets busy for a reason!!!

A great example of a modern British restaurant. Delicious food with a range of exceptional wines. Very good service. Will certainly be back and will recommend to others.

We took a long weekend down to Sidmouth from Brighton on the recommendation from a dear friend. He insisted we ate at The Pea Green Boat on the seafront, which we did. The Pea Green Boat is all about QUALITY. No frills or gimmicks, just amazingly fresh food, cooked with passion and served ( on this occasion by Chris, the owner). We opted for fresh calimari as a starter. A fav of ours, this was as fresh as fresh can be, fried in the lightest of batter and served with pickled veg and homemade aoli. Next, the mussels. I have run and owned 2 restaurants kn the past, one being a dedicated fish restaurant. Never, have i experienced mussels like these. Absolutely sublime, plump melt in the mouth meat. And the broth was to die for!! Wine, cream, onions and the all important provencal herbs steamed with the shellfish. Served with sourdough bread, it was, the BEST bowl of mussels i have ever eaten. Washed down with some fine Chardonnay and some very good alcohol free beer, we were completely satisfied. A quick chat with the owner Chris demonstrated his pride and passion in his industry. He takes time to source only the best quality foodstuffs and has a simple uncomplicated mantra. This IS food at its best and i highly recommend that you pay a visit to this eaterie. For me, next time, and it will be soon, will be the whole grilled Brill to share, or, The cote de boeuf. Im salivating already. Keep doing what you are doing Chris. Its brilliant!!

The PGB is small and modern but so low minimal/low key that it's easy to walk past and miss completely, as we did several times! But inside we found it bright and pleasant, a nice atmosphere with very low key jazzy music at a perfect low volume. The waiter was very relaxed and friendly, making for a very pleasant experience Most importantly the food was absolutely delicious, my wife had main course mussels and I had scallops which were divine. The sea food is so fresh, you can see the fishing boats on the beach in nearby Beer. We shared a state-of-the-art crème brulé for dessert. Now for the negative part and for this we accept that the Salcombe effect has inflated local prices to central London rates. Our bill was £93.00 and that is without a bottle of wine which, being mostly £50 plus we opted out of. Instead my wife had a coffee (excellent) and a cider. For £6.00 she expected a glass full but it turned up as a tiny portion in a wine glass. Why - we have no idea? For a similar price I ordered a Salcombe pale ale expecting a pint or equivalent bottle and was presented with a small can which the waiter had already opened, otherwise I would have sent it back. OK the menu small print does state it is 330ml but I never thought to translate that into can size, after all I can't remember ever being offered a small can of beer in a restaurant. I see some similar comments in other reviews and perhaps the menu should be more explanatory. We also had a glass of wine each and myself a dessert wine (very nice). Despite the negatives and the eye watering bill the PGB is still 5 stars for us because it was high quality food and I really don't mind paying a premium for such an enjoyable meal. For lunch in town I had paid £15.00 for a soggy, tasteless sandwich, now that really was poor value, but that's another story.

This is a small venue, good food although slightly limited in choice. We were well looked after by the staff and food was very good. We had whole brill to share, not sure fries are best option with that though. Wine list comprehensive but I think on the expensive side. Need some more choice in £30-40 range . Most wines over £50.

Had a very nice battered fish and chips here for dinner with a friend. Nice wine and cappuccino too. Not the cheapest in Sidmouth, but sat outside on a lovely night and had a great view of the sea. Service was a little slow, but friendly staff.
