Went there for coffee and cake Tuesday late afternoon as part of the late night Christmas evening. The service and food were great as was the owner, well done to them all in a very busy day ?

It was a very nice afternoon tea. Beautiful building and the cakes were great! It was quite expensive, but overall a very nice experience.

A lovely, delightful ‘old fashioned’ looking tea room with lots of beams. I had cappuccino with lemon/blueberry cake which was so moist and tasty. Generous size too - took half away with me. The cafe was constantly busy with two people taking orders, preparing food and collecting payment. They were very efficient and totally unflappable. Well done. BTW their crab sandwiches seemed very popular.

What a lovely find in Totnes! My son and I came in for lunch as we were having a day out for my birthday. Couldn't of picked a nicer tearoom. Staff were so friendly and we had a long chat with Nashima ( not sure if I have that right!). We liked it so much we went back later for a cup of tea and my son had a gluten free scone. When we went to pay, Nashima wouldn't let us pay, she said it was a treat for my birthday! How kind is that?!! She was very helpful as my son is coeliac, and there was plenty of choice for him. We will definitely be visiting again as lunch was really good. It added to a lovely day out. Highly recommend eating here!!

Man is rude and unaccommodating. He spoils this business and this creates a bad atmosphere. The staff aĺl seem nice though. The best thing about this cafe is that the cakes and cream teas are lovely, if you decide to stay. Don't query your bill though or you'll meet with the wrath of the owner

There are some lovely places to eat in Totnes, sadly this isn't one of them! The owner and presumably his Manageress couldn't have been ruder to myself and my friend. After waiting over 50 mins for a jacket potato and cheese on toast, when we politely enquired when our food would be coming we were told its got to be cooked, well I would hope so, and if we didn't like it we could leave, I wish we had! When the food came it was awful, low quality, rock hard and over priced. Then we couldn't even pay as no one would even look at us, clear our table, ask if the food was OK or if we wanted anything else. By the time we did pay we tried to inform the owner of the rudeness of his manager but he wasn't interested and just talked over us. Both of them were incredibly rude and ignorant. DO NOT waste your money in this establishment, there's far better in Totnes and if they continue to treat their customers in such a rude and appalling manner then they won't survive!

My wife and her friend went here for lunch today and had a shocking experience!! Apparently it was very busy, but having to wait for almost an hour for a jacket potato and cheese on toast is very poor service. When they asked a member of staff about the wait, they were told "well if you don't like it you can go!"!! They even had to ask more than once for the bill, and when my wife's friend expressed her desire to complain about the service after paying, the chap (owner/chef perhaps) just completely ignored her!! It certainly seems to have changed a lot since I last visited, which was some time ago - and definitely not for the better!! STEER CLEAR - there are plenty of other eateries in the main street!!

My mother was recently discharged from hospital following a serious operation and so I decided to treat her to an afternoon in Totnes with a cream tea at Anne of Cleves while I was holidaying in the UK. It was an absolute disaster, all due to the miserable old man that seems to be running the business into the ground. I’m not going to say the food was bad, and the poor girls working there don’t deserve such a terrible review since they’re the ones putting all the effort in. The cantankerous owner was rude and dismissive when I simply asked for a bill showing what I was being charged for. A simple request one would think. But he just ignored us and continued serving another table, to come back and say “Are you going to pay now?” I insisted on the bill and he demanded I just pay the total he wanted. You ruined our day and if it hadn’t been for my mother being there and having just recovered, it would have been a different story! I’ve never been spoken to like that and we certainly didn’t deserve your disgusting attitude. Given that you find simple hospitality so challenging you’d be wise to do your customers a favour and quit before you meet someone less tolerant of your utter incompetence and rude behaviour.

Possibly the rudest service I've ever received. We sat down and witnessed him berate another table for wasting his time by only ordering tea/coffee, then when he took our order, he said it was too difficult and wasn't worth his effort and consequently refused to serve us. Shame as the cakes looked lovely.

The owner and staff couldn't have been any more welcoming. Lovely food including the best Welsh Rarebit I have ever had. Please ignore the negative comments, this place is fantastic.
