We went in for Sunday lunch, the food was excellent, cooked to perfection and extremely well priced, and plenty of it!

We always pop into the pub every time they have the totnes market . Food is superb. A roast dinner for £11.95 value for money and quality food . Also had a great time with the live music in the pub at Halloween. Well done is a well run pub /restaurant ??

Ordered a ham and mustard baguette and 2 portions of whitebait with some sharing chips. Food was fantastic, well served and quick. Pleasant environment with good staff service. A comfortable environment to enjoy lunch. Very reasonably priced.

I've read the reviews. 'The best steak pie I've ever had'. So I had to experience it for myself. Well........ It really was the most tasty steak pie I've ever had! If I like my food then I usually scoff it down but I literally savoured every mouthful of this fantastic generous portion of taste sensation! And it wasn't even expensive. Great traditional pub with an absolute hidden gem of a steak pie!

The pub is in a great location, bar staff great, food delicious, the pub has been refurbished & looks great but oh dear they have certainly forgotten about the accommodation upstairs. Thick cobwebs around the walls, no bin to put used teabags etc, hot tap had to be left running for ten minutes before the water got hot. What passed for a clothes rail was rickety & in an awkward position. Very noisy downstairs from 7.00am & when we checked out & asked if we could leave our bags until later we were told no as the cellar was full. They begrudgingly let us leave them upstairs outside Room 1 but their attitude stunk. Won’t be returning to stay & certainly would not recommend.

The food is really tasty and excellent value for money. I had a roast, the lamb was cooked perfectly and the vegetables are fresh. The staff are really friendly.

Great food, great service, and great price. The food is delicious, I’d go as far to say it’s the best in Totnes. The staff and service is amazing, I cannot fault them with anything, very welcoming. All of this is at a good price.

Great to be in a busy traditional pub. Excellent service from the friendly chap behind the bar both Monday & Tuesday. The food was excellent, homemade lasagna & steak pie was really tasty & well presented. Will definitely return when we're next in the area.

It's a breath of fresh air to see a proper pub that serves nice classic pub grub.Well worth a visit if your parched or hungry, we can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

The staff were so friendly, helpful and the location in town was great. Right in the middle of the high street with loads of great unique shops and restaurants. Accomodation very worn, bathroom needs refurbing, lots of cobwebs, the bed and pillows were very uncomfortable, nowhere to hang clothes and they had a very very bright light outside the window until it closed for the evening. It was very noisy as some sort of event was happening downstairs.

Bar tender seemed like he had enough, not engaging, asked if the roast could have two meats, no, asked if I could pay extra, no. Cutlery thrown on the table no interaction, I've worked customer service and I get he's all on his own but after trying to interact there was no middle ground. The guy in the weist coat that came out after 10/10 great guy, he was switched on and ran a good service. Roast was incredible, my friend that doesn't eat sides very often are everything. Roast comes in top 3 behind the Old Rydon and then the Hare and Hounds.

Visited Totnes for the first time. What an absolute gem of a high street! Needed a decent lunch after walking up and down the steep hills. Walked into this lovely pub and was immediately greeted by a lovely bartender who served us drinks while we looked through the menu. I chose the West Country kedgeree. My daughter who was very hungry after swimming chose the steak pie. My goodness their food is awesome! The kedgeree was so tasty and moreish despite being full I greedily forced myself to finish it. My daughter wolfed down the steak pie which was packed with tender meat and a rich gravy. Chips were beautiful too. One of the best lunches we’ve ever had. I can’t recommend this pub enough.

Nice comfortable pub on the corner of a busy street. Friendly bartender. Good cask-conditioned ales.

A halfway house for those climbing the steep hill, great range of real ales served, an attractive curved frontage to the pub is unusual.
