We stayed here for New years eve 2023 and had a wonderful stay. Very friendly and helpful staff, big shout out to Sol, Barny, Kate and the rest of the team. The room was big , clean and plenty of teas, coffee and biscuits. They even catered for our Border Terrier with a 'dog package ' which consisted of a water bowl, mat, poo bags, tennis ball and even a ' dog beer', all in a hessian bag.Breakfast was lovely with a choice of cereals, fresh and dried fruit, pastries, yoghurt, fruit juices and breads. Then we ordered our hot food. All in all a great stay, the management should be proud of their staff.Dietary restrictions: They have a separate gluten free menu available.

Absolutely brilliant Christmas yet again from Kieran and his staff. Lovely lunch on the big day, leisurely service allowing room for each course to go down!Huge bathroom in Room 8, lovely big room but very small tv!Parking: Very small car park but we managed to find space, went out Boxing Day and found room in the car park when we returned.

Regular patrons, been visiting for 30+ years. Never have we ever been so disappointed with the hospitality. Restaurant was empty but still made to sit at bar. Refused food because we were not sat in the restaurant. Whilst enjoying our drinks in the bar, we watched on as food was served to others (obviously more important than us) in the bar. When we again tried to order food, we were told others had prebooked their table and were therefore allowed food. This made no sense. The waiting staff were so rude. We promptly left and had a lovely meal and cocktails in The Wateride Bistro where the staff were lovely and very accommodating.Would definitely not recommend the seven stars for service (or food).

Midday visit to the dentist followed by lunch in this lovely Old Hotel situated at the bottom of the High Street. Very welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff and a well priced food menu. I went for the salt and chilli squid with a small portion of twice cooked chips and my wife chose the home-made tomato and sweet chilli soup with a fresh bread roll and butter. Service was swift and the food hot and enjoyable. Ground floor access is easy and the toilets sparkling. Well done to the kitchen and front of house staff. A most enjoyable lunch...and we WILL be back!Vegetarian options: Nice options for my veggie wife.Parking: Room for about 8 cars behind the hotel within their boundary.

Stopped for a couple glasses of wine. Pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff.

Kieran and his team offer a 5Star stay in all respects and appear to do it seamlessly (which is exactly how the customer wants it to appear). We know that you all work incredibly hard to pull this off especially at Christmas time so Father Christmas hats off to you all. Will be back and recommend to friends. Happy Christmas and thanks ?

From the moment we walked in, we had a wonderful welcome. The whole team could not be more helpful. The breakfasts were scrummy and we had a lovely evening meal. We were served by Lily, Sol, Phil, Julie and Nadiq and the food was delicious. Thank you for a fabulous weekend!

We had a great two night stay at the Royal Seven Stars. The location is great, bang in the middle of Totnes with buses departing outside and train station a short walk away. Parking was a little tricky but we found space in the car park in Morrisons opposite. We had a dog friendly room and Stan the Whippet loved it - a goody bag and a warm welcome were just the ticket and the complimentary waterproof dog blanket, bowls, ball, treat and dog beer were great additions!A very friendly staff team, big room, good shower and comfy bed - couldn’t have asked for more. The building is really characterful too and goes back to the 17th century. Highly recommend - thanks for a lovely stay.

I wasn't particularly looking forward to dinner at this restaurant last Thursday. Predominantly because it's now a chain and some local hear say of bad experiences.I'd booked online and said it was a birthday, and so we were greeted with a very enthusiastic welcome. The table chosen looked lovely and the best in the restaurant, I'd say, so that was pleasing. We were even more pleased when a little bottle of prosseco arrived pretty much immediately at the table for the birthday girl, such a great touch that made her feel special. The staff continued to be very smiley, chatty, and interactive. My strange requests on the menu were not a problem, and I felt confident they would deliver. The staff had really listened to our choices, and they clicked onto the fact that garlic bread was the birthday girls favourite thing. So much to our delight, the garlic bread came out with candles and 2 members of staff sang happy birthday.Im not sure if this is a regular occurrence, but what I'm trying to emphasise is that the staff read the energy of us as customers and the experience we wanted. A celebratory, happy, jubilant time. I'm sure if you were having a quiet romantic time, they would be just as attentive but in a way that was suitable for the customer and their experience. So thank you to Julie, Lily, Phil and Miles for an enjoyable evening, which has renewed my faith in this chain, and I'll happily be sharing my positive experience with others.

Food was lovely and it was a great atmosphere to catch up for lunch with friends. My only criticism was when you're paying £8.50 for a squid starter, I would expect more than 6 small mouthfuls...

We were very well looked after by a very smiley team of Lily, Sol, Julie, Phil and Nadia. It was a busy Saturday night and nothing was too much trouble.

Had a breakfast here and was pleasantly surprised. Good quality coffee, good brekkie selection (loved my avo with poached eggs, it was guacamole style and lovely seasoned). Super cosy pub atmosphere and fireplace adds extra

The food is good but inconsistent. I ate a bass in there over the summer, it was spectacular to be honest, completely outside what I expected, and one of the nicest fish dishes I had eaten in a while. Having grown up in totnes and knowing the stars well I was surprised, I went back a week later and since and the quality has been so up and down, we ordered a seafood platter and it was just a let down, soggy batter poor presentation. I will say their fry up is excellent, if expensive, but I believe the quality of the ingredients excuses that. The atmosphere is lovely, especially in the winter when the fires are lit. The service is often slow, which doesn't always bother me, but has on occasions been a bit beyond what I would expect.

This is the second time that we have had an evening meal here and on both occasions the food has been excellent. Barney, McKenzie, and Julie thank you for being so welcoming, you made our evening. We sat in the room opposite the main bar and the atmosphere created by the fairy lights gave it a really cosy feeling. Look forward to seeing you all next summer if not before ?Christine and Geoff
