I first used this Chip Shop over 40 years ago, whilst on holiday in Devon. I visited again last night just before closing as I was by passing through. What an absolute treat, just as I remembered. Beautiful Fish & Chips. Really impressed that so close to closing they made them fresh up. The two girls working behind the counter were charmingly polite and professional. The Cod was thick and delicious. I will be planning more trips in this direction just for the Fish & Chips.

Our chips and mushy peas were fantastic. But unfortunately our haddock had inches thick of barely cooked batter and the fish was overcooked. I’m not sure how that happens, I guess there was so much batter that it required extended frying? It’s disappointing as I used to eat here as a kid and only just moved back with good memories of the place. I’m writing this review in the hopes the batter improves and isn’t so thick and soggy. Banging chips though, hence the three stars.

We went here when it was chucking it down with rain and we were soaking. The cashier then accommodated us inside where he set up tables and chairs for me and my friends where the room is normally for storage. Prices were standard for a chippy but much better then other places in totnes. great experience would go again if i went to totnes again.

Best fish &chips I’ve eaten in Devon . Always have a large haddock &chips the fish is always succulent and full of flavour the batter is excellent lovely and crunchy and the chips are very good . We travel over from malborough nr salcombe at least once a month which is a good 36 mile round trip and it’s worth the time and effort . Keep up the good work silver grill .

Had medium haddock & chips and curry sauce this afternoon whilst passing through Totnes. I have to say that the fish is one of the best I’ve ever had, crispy batter, tasted really fresh and it was a good size too and cooked to order too. Definitely recommend and would visit again if in the area. My dog also enjoyed some of my meal ?
