My husband and I were staying in Ilfracombe last week. We thought we would visit Captain Jacks for my birthday following the reviews. The menu looked good on the website.When we arrived we were shocked to see it closed. Nothing was noted on their website to state it was closed. Extremely annoying and poor

A fantastic old pub with great food! Atmosphere was lovely, staff were very friendly and helpful. A free pool table, Christmas lights and Christmas music made for a lovely time and good atmosphere!

We went to this place each day on our October holiday and it’s so great to have. Amazing atmosphere, lovely people, great food, a free pool table and the best cider I’ve ever had (Devon Mist). It feels like a Pirates Of The Carribean pub in a way and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Nice big place, food wasn't as good as I thought it maybe. Starters seemed to be my opinion to be microwaved. Steamed gyoza shouldn't have crispy edges. Chips were good.

Banging food!We went for a Sunday roast (I had a child’s portion as I don’t eat as much as my partner) both plates were massive with plenty of veg.Roasties were also cooked to perfection. 10/10Service was also spot on. Great atmosphere.

Nice Saturday lunch in Captain Jacks. I had the Garden Vegan Burger and my wife had the Falafel Salad. Drinks were good, the pub had a nice atmosphere and service was great - we asked for some olives in the salad and they were kindly provided. The specials looked good but as we were walking back to Croyde we just fancied a light bite.

Had lunch with friends here and found the food to be of high quality and a reasonable price to for the area. Allergen information is well listed on the menu and the chef was happy to change my friends ordered dish to accommodate her. Wasn't a really warm day so we sat inside. which was a shame because the outdoor area looks very good. Pub is atmospheric and they let us use the pool table for free. Overall enjoyed and the only slight negative was the place was showing signs of general wear and tear. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!
Great place to eat in or outdoors. Been here 3 times in a week and couldn't fault it. The food was great chip were some of the best I've had and I've had a few chips in my time with a waistline to prove it! Good atmosphere and cheerful staff. I know where to come next year. Well done to all at Captain Jack's.

A lovely spot for lunch. The menu was fantastic for catering for dietary requirements. I have a severe food allergy and they were more than willing to customise a meal to allow me to eat this with my allergies. A free pool table topped off the experience for my partner. Will definitely be back!

Our 7yo asked if she could write a review so the following is from her! I love captain jacks because their sandwiches are delicious. I had a cheese sandwich and it was nice. The bread was soft and tasty. Mummy had a fish finger sandwich, daddy had houmous and grandad had ham, egg and chips. We all had empty plates and will definitely come back again soon. We found ourselves in Woolacombe for the afternoon and fancied a break for the walking. We saw signs for Captain Jacks Bar. On first impressions, this is a great little pub with lots of atmosphere. It was a sunny day, so the beer garden was busy, which was no problem as we sat inside. The only issue was the live band they had playing. It was very loud and was a person with a fiddle. The noise went through me! Because of this, we only stayed for one drink.

Rude and ignorant staff. Very expensive. Locals and friends of staff have normal priced drinks whilst visitors are ripped off.
