Had a fantastic lunch during my 60th birthday celebrations on Saturday 9th March.Staff were very friendly and cheery but the star for me was the homemade rice pudding that was something else I would go there just for that ?

Always a concern when such a great village pub gets new owners, but in this case there needn’t be. We had a lovely lunch there today, good food, well priced, friendly people and good beer. Still a diamond of a Dartmoor

Visited last night for the first time after a recent change of management. The food was delicious - pub standards on the menu, some great alternatives on the specials board. Excellent pudding. Happy to see they're now serving Dartmoor Zero alcohol free beer. Really friendly service and food came swiftly.

While the pub itself is absolutely brilliantly presented, warm and welcoming, the food presented very well, my starter was delicious, beef and bacon Yorkshires highly recommend!! The mains came out…. And my Cod had no less than 6 bones in it! I did leave them separate for the chef to see! My dad pie, although the filling being lovely, the pastry was black and over cooked. The sauce on mums hake special was super salty. All in all, service excellent, atmosphere excellen, just a bit disappointed with certain aspects of the food. That said, I would try it again

The Royal Oak is a beautiful, warm and inviting little pub with great drinks and good food. Recently new owners are making it as inviting as ever.Food wise, the potato skins and beef & bacon stuffed yorkshire puddings were stand out successes. One point for improvement would be home made chips.

First visit after re-opening. Really enjoyed our lunch and drinks. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. We’ll be returning!

Great beer, food, staff and service. A wonderful unique pub where we were drawn into conversations with many locals who are returning. This is not just a pub in the country but a pub connected to country life. No machines or tin music or tacky false rural decor. This is a genuine and warm pub that seems unchanged for centuries in the little bar. We’ll be back
