The White Thorn Inn
White Thorn InnSmashing pub on the borders of Plymouth and Dartmoor. I had a nice pint of Summerskill's Scrum-Half Nectar amber. We ate here and the beef lasagne I had was top notch. Wife had cajun chicken burger and father-in-law, the hunter's chicken. Both of them raved about the chips!Dog friendly establishment and the landlord and barmaid made a right fuss of our cockapoo, Molly. This made us feel very welcome. We will be back.

Drake Manor Inn
The Village, Buckland Monachorum, YelvertonWe really love visiting The Drake all year round. A traditional cosy pub with an open fire for colder days and a nice garden for summer days. Good selection of drinks on offer and the food is delicious. The staff are always very welcoming, as are the locals. And our springer is always greeted with lots of love and cuddles, which makes it even more of a gem. Highly recommend after a good stomp on the moor.

The Leaping Salmon
Whitchurch Rd, Horrabridge, YelvertonWe’ve known Ben for a while now. But this was our first visit to the pub. It’s a little out the way for us but we know bens food is second to non. We were not disappointed. My only criticism is it’s so nice we ate far too much. It’s the next morning and I can still hardly move! Great hospitality, great food, lovely old pub, very tasty cocktails. Cheers guys.Food & drinks: As above. Very, very impressed with our meal and our cocktails.

The London Inn
23 Station Rd, Horrabridge, YelvertonLocated in the quiet village centre, just a minute’s drive (or 5 minute walk) off the main drag between Yelverton and Tavistock. Car park at rear, accessible before crossing the bridge next to the pub. Entrances at rear and front. Typical looking old-world village pub with outdoor seating and a few larger tables inside, so ideal for walkers, cyclists etc.First visit (pub in Yelverton gridlocked with cars so here we were).Staff kindly let us in early (chilly and wet weather) to keep warm but we strolled around the attractive village anyway. Sidenote: The other pub was shut, there’s a Spar and a chippy and the river looked splendid after the heavy rain. Community Christmas trees added some cheer.Back to the pub out of the rain: Quiet inside, no music, a few other customers, lower level area closed. Bit tired in the furnishings dept but historic building nonetheless. Toilets so-so. Friendly staff offered a tasting of the cider AND a bonus of the last glassful from the box (it was a Lilley’s still, 6.0% - v good)Beer offer was usual DoomJail so picked the still cider. I could imagine this as a proper beer-led establishment at some point. Probably not the footfall or demographic though. It’s the food that truly shone. Simple, non-pretentious and delicious. Sausage (meaty), mash (buttery), peas (loads) and a proper boat of hot gravy. Mate’s burger, chips and onion rings also well received and everything was cleared. Good portions all served hot and with a friendly smile. I’d be happy to have this as a local.Bravo. We’ll be back!Parking: Behind the pub

Dartmoor Brewery
Station Rd, Princetown, YelvertonIts only a Small Bewery with a very Small Shop that sells their own Beer, some Local Whiskey and a bit other Merchandise like Beer Glasses or Bottle Opener. The Prices for the own Produced Beer were noticeable cheaper in the Shop than in other Locations, so if you wanna Stack up on some Dartmoor Beer, then buy it here. They also were very friendly to us but opening times can be an Issue.

Curry Express
2 Buckland Terrace, YelvertonFirst time visit, having ordered online. I thought the food was pricey, and even more so when I realise VAT was added separately and not included in the dish price. 5% discount for online order was a nice gesture. Quoted 20 minutes for a pick up, in the end was 30 minutes from order to collection. Order was King Prawn Balti, Lamb Tikka Biryani and a Keema Naan bread. All totally delicious, piping hot and plentiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The staff were friendly and polite, even apologetic for the slight delay. We would definitely order a takeaway from here again. It is only the post order VAT addition that prevents this being a five-star review.

The Dartmoor Diner Ltd
PlymouthOnce again we were very satisfied with our visit. Being Mother's day it was busy which gave a great vibe when we walked in and were greeted by staff. We sat upstairs for the first time and the view was breathtaking. The service was 100% from the very cheery staff. The food was well cooked, fresh and plentiful. Desert, my choice of rhubarb and apple crumble with custard certainly did not disappoint. Thank you and see you soon.
