Roast dinner Best in Beautiful

We had read some positive reviews so decided on this place. We eat out VERY rarely these days as it is often poor value for money. We were hopeful of a good evening out being cooked for. Best choice was the lasagne which was declared 'delicious' by family member and it did look home made. Worst choice was the 'seafood platter' . Being quite near the sea I looked forward to a plate of fresh seafood. What I received was : whitebait (breaded) salt and pepper squid (breaded) scampi (breaded) prawn twists (prawns in filo pastry. With fries and dips. £16 for oven food from Iceland, probably. Utter rip-off. Also very disappointing was the pizza: Thick bread base crust with cheese and tomato. Stodgy and bland. The steak was 'ok' but at £24 the best steak on the menu it should have been more than just ok. This place redeemed itself a little with the pudding - chocolate fudge cake with ice cream and it was very good. The service was very slow and they weren't busy. The waitress who served us was very friendly and deserved a better class of food to serve.

Great find, just off the square. We sat in the lovely quiet garden courtyard behind with our dog. V friendly staff. Lovely brunch bap and coffees. So good, we even bought sandwiches to take away for later-all made to order and delicious.

Lovely spot for a family dinner. Amazing staff that went above and beyond with the children and even gave the dogs a little treat! The food was home cooked and tasted delicious! With a wholesome friendly atmosphere.

We had such a great dinner last night at Dexter’s. Recommend the Steak and Stilton pie and Ham chips and eggs. Worth the wait in quiet courtyard and every aspect of food was served hot. Deserts also wonderful. Staff very friendly too. Sad we only got to go the once.

Just love this little diamond! Service is always so friendly and Kimmer is the best waitress, she’s accommodating and lots of fun. The food is not Michelin, but, its very well done home comfy food and tastes delish. Sometimes they do a spaghetti Bol and I have to say that it is the best I have ever eaten, unfortunately on this evening it wasn’t on the menu…I had the lasagne. Hubster had the steak….prawn cocktail to start with was so tasty. The garden outside makes you feel that you are on a foreign holiday, it’s all very good and we just love it. I think in the height of the season you would struggle to get a table…best book well beforehand.Well done Dexters, we will definitely be back many times over the summer. Xx

This was our first visit to Dexters and we really enjoyed our evening. It’s only a small restaurant but the tables were well spaced so we didn’t feel on top of the other people. The waitress was super friendly and chatty. There was a very good choice of food on the menu and we particularly liked the choice from the specials board. Would definitely recommend.

We've twice had dinner at Dexters, Beaminster during our short stay. Both times we were warmly greeting by the staff. The menu covered both meat and vegetarian dishes with a good choice of each. The food was hot, beautifully served, and tasted delicious which is why we went back a second time. Their garlic bread is superb, no stinting on the garlic but not over done either. There is a good choice of drinks, both soft and alcoholic, including beer, wine and shorts. The prices are very reasonable too. Well worth a return visit if we are in the area.

We visited Beaminster today for the first time. Nice church with a friendly 'Walk in Wednesday' group. Several interesting shops. We looked at several cafes before going into Dexters on the main street just almost opposite to the square. Only small with about 8 tables but with a French bistro look. Very clean. Friendly staff. They are open for breakfast, lunch and evening meals. Several people came in to book tables, so it might be worthwhile to do so on the busier days. We both had 'small breakfasts' with a pot of Clipper tea. It was enough for 2 cups each. The breakfast was piping hot and comprised of toast and butter, hash brown, beans, tomato, fried egg, sausage, mushrooms and bacon. All cooked to perfection and well presented. At only £6.50 ea. for the breakfast and £2 ea for the tea, we thought this was good value.Well worth a visit!!

During the day this is really more a cafe than restaurant. Table mats and seating a little tired looking. That said, the food was very good though it took some time to arrive. Good portions.

We live in Bridport but needed to visit Beaminster so popped into Dexters at lunchtime. This restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus take away! What an amazing place this is. All staff friendly. Good choices to meet all tastes. Hot meals, or loads of sandwich choices. We both chose a smaller portion main meal at £9 each and it was ample for lunchtime. I had shepherd’s pie and fresh veg and my husband had turkey curry and papadom. We shall definitely return on a regular basis ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
