West Dorset CAMRA pub of the year 2023, mercifully rescued from closure by the good people of the local community. This pub is tied to the Palmers brewery, but that’s no bad thing - my two pints of ‘Copper’ Pale Ale were in fine form.As is often the case nowadays, be it economic imperative or local preference, the pub is dining-focused and has been configured into a single large room with an identikit interior. As a result, it does lack some of the atmosphere of a traditional country pub where saloon, snug and dining room are separate. That being said, the food was home made, cooked to order and of a high standard; and the service was warm, friendly and attentive. If it was up to me, I would turn the lights down and the music off. Nevertheless, it’s a great blessing that this pub’s future has been secured. Well done to all involved.

We have stopped by for a beer and eaten in the White Lion a few times now. Excellent Sunday roast, superb midweek pies and tonight super tasty pizza.Kerry and Clive are fantastic hosts. The community feel and the warm atmosphere make it the perfect country pit stop for a beer and food. Can't recommend it enough!!

Dropped in for lunch after a long walk for lunch. A welcome pint of Palmers and a delicious light lunch beautifully presented. Spent a pleasant 40 minutes watching the rugby while exchanging good hearted banter with a handful of regulars. Will definitely return and watch a full match next time. A highly recommended locals pub that welcomes strangers.

The White Lion Broadwindsor is a lovely village pub serving excellent food, and now including freshly made delicious pizzas. Regular entertainment including live music, quizzes and bingo, so it's best to sign up to their Facebook page for regular updates.Wheelchair accessibility: At the tear of the pub.

A warm welcome awaits you in this community run pub staffed by volunteers. Each time we ate here we were treated to good service, an excellent meal and conversation. How to make your customers welcome? Go to the White Lion to find out!

Having seen what appeared to be a great lunchtime menu we were really looking forward to the lunch. Sadly we were given a menu half the size of that on the website, and much of that was crossed out. The explanation was that they were transitioning over to an autumn menu. In that case UPDATE THE WEBSITE! We travelled quite a way for this and whilst the lady who served us was very pleasant the pub lacked any ambience - perhaps because so few were in the pub. It is no good enticing people to come to the pub only to let them down with a lack lustre menu a fraction of what is advertised on your website. Sadly we won’t be returning even though what we did eat was perfectly acceptable

Apart from being a great place for a drink and a meal, this pub was incredibly helpful when a taxi we had ordered didn't turn up. They let us use their landline to contact a local taxi company including letting the company ring us back on it. We were so grateful for their kindness and support - thank you!

This is a lovely little pub run by a friendly couple Kerry and Clive from South Africa. We were there for a Sunday lunch brai (barby). We had huge portions of steak, pork chop and South African sausage with delicious veg including sweetcorn and chorizo. Mains £18.50. Beer around £4.50 a pint is great value.

We went here for a Sunday lunch braai, absolutely amazing! Went to quite a few pubs in the area, but this one was by far the best in food and service. Amazing bbq meat with very tasty side dishes. People are very friendly and so willing to help you out with anything. If I would live in Dorset (which I would!!), I would definitely come here every Sunday. Kind regards from the Netherlands!
