Brilliant experience. Went to their Xmas dinner with guests and everyone loved it. Great food, great service, friendly attentive staff. Well done! Superb value for money.

Having left a 4star for my Clubhouse 1896 experience I was shocked to see it showed as a 1star and understandably a concerned response from the venue.Firstly my apologies and I'll attempt to change however if its not possible here is my review.Found a table member of staff promptly came over and took our drink order and returned with drinks for our food choices, we went for a lught lunch choice. While waiting it was nice to see the staff promptly clearing and cleaning tables when people left, the condiment tray was well stocked even down to drinks mats.So our double egg chips and beans twice arrived looked nice tasted great! I noted the Sunday roasts coming from the the kitchen looked amazing too, and will definitely be back for more.Again Clubhouse 1896 my apologies for the error4stars from me ☆☆☆☆

My wife and I stopped here for Breakfast while holidaying in the area and most certainly not disappointed. Every single item on their Clubhouse Breakfast was cooked to absolute perfection, and it was quite simply one of the best cooked breakfasts I have ever eaten! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend!

Fantastic food and service.Went for Sunday lunch with visiting friends and the roasts we had were amazing and plenty of it.Meat,potatoes and veg all cooked to perfection-our friends and us all commented on how good it was and a great price too.We were looking out on to the golf course and lovely views.It’s not our first visit and certainly won’t be the last-superb.

Thoroughly enjoyed a substantial lunch - well prepared and presented in a spotless restaurant overlooking the golf course. Not the most expansive menu but doubtless focusing on snacks and full meals that are popular with the regulars. The overall service and value was first class.
Me and 3 of my workmates had the roast dinner Yorkshire wraps to take away and are quite easily one of the best things we have had for lunch. I had the vegan one and it's was really tasty. Will be ordering them again soon.Vegetarian options: The vegan roast Yorkshire wrap was absolutely delicious. Will be ordering again soon.

My husband and I went for a first visit for lunch today but were sent on our way. Despite the lack of signs etc, it turned out the restaurant was closed to the public due to a golfing event. The whole atmosphere was stuffy and unwelcoming. Nobody greeted us to tell us so we sat down outside with menus. Eventually a waiter arrived and told us curtly the restaurant was closed to the public, he took our menus away and pretty much sent us out. The same result could have been achieved in a much nicer way and clear signage outside would have prevented embarrassment. I did check the website and there were times available to book the restaurant so I had no idea it was closed. A friendly apology with a smile wouldn't have cost anything and would mean we would have considered returning another day instead of us feeling embarrassed and not planning on returning.

It was our first time visiting today, friends catching up over lunch.I just wanted to say we all had a roast lunch and it was amazing .Portion size was great.Food was top quality.Piping hot.Service was great to.Will definitely be going back on a regular basis.Only negative was we were to full to try, choose your own crumble.I will be trying this next time.Thank youLorraine .
