Following a google search decided on the white horse as we made our way home. Dad chose the ham egg and chips, my husband had scampi and chips and I went for the homemade lasagna. Excellent all round. Lovely staff, locals held the bar so it was table service which we didn’t mind. Thanks and will deffo return when in locale again.

Absolutely great pub. Landlord always makes you welcome . Good food and excellent service. Great hosts thourally recommend this pub. Its run as a community pub where all are made welcome. Go there you won't be disappointed.

Stopped here on a whim returning from holiday and it turned out to be a real treat. Old fashioned pub with good selection of real ales, excellent food (recommend the honey & mint lamb) and a lovely atmosphere. Notable were the waitresses chatting to clients dining on their own and the locals at the lively bar were welcoming.Mains had lots of veg in side dishes + desserts to die for (& drinks) for three came to £31 per head. If every village in England had a pub like this, it would restore a true sense of community. We will definitely return there, as we were spoilt for choice on the day.

We visited with family last week for dinner. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted and shown to our table - even though we arrived early - along with the wonderful Christmas gift left for our daughter, to the moment we left - was superb. The service was outstanding, the staff were so attentive and the food was divine. Needless to say, we will be back.

Ate there with some friends, it was busy so we sat in the bar with the locals which was fine.The food was excellent, good portions, freshly cooked vegetables. The staff were friendly and the whole place had a warm feel. A proper country pub, unpretentious with unpretentious food and all the better for it. Recommended.

Lovely traditional pub with a wide range of beer and good food. We visited on a Thursday evening and it was pretty busy.I think it is one of the only pubs in Stourpaine, but service was great and the food was lovely. I had the steak pudding and chips, which I've not had for years but it was gorgeous. My wife had ham, egg and chips, which again she said tasted delicious.The pub has a whole raft of service mens hats dotted throughout the place and has had a visit by King Charles when he was a prince.Lovely place, well worth a visit.

It’s about time I gave The White Horse a review as I’ve been about a dozen times with different groups of friends. Every single time, the welcome, the service, the food & drinks, have all been perfect. Tonight I had the Christmas menu with a group of 9 friends and as ever, it was fantastic. The staff are always smiling and extremely efficient & accommodating with our individual bills. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The food is consistently excellent, I have never had a disappointing meal here. The ambiance is warm and cosy, especially now with all the Christmas decorations up. Thank you White Horse for always being reliably wonderful
A lovely lunch. Interesting menu and good quality food nicely presented. Friendly service; a good buzz about the place. Obviously very popular. Added bonus of special price for us crumblies for weekday lunches making it very good value for money. Very glad we picked this out. Lovely surrounding countryside also for a walk (Hambledon Hill, Hod Hill) before or after lunch to work off those calories. Note: the pub is in Stourpaine, just north of Blandford Forum.

Not going to lie, the food wasn't all that great at all, maybe just an "off evening". It was average at best, steak was very fatty, chips very greasy. Service was OK but not great, atmosphere was spoilt by literally being sat ontop of 2 other tables. It felt like everything we said was a conversation with 2 other couples who we didn't know. Little things I know but for us spoilt what we thought should have been a nice evening meal out.
