This is mine and my partner's favourite restaurant. It was recommended to us a few years ago by the owner of another one of our favourite restaurants in Birmingham, when he heard we'd be holidaying in Dorset. It does not disappoint! The restaurant itself is well decorated with cosy isolated booths upstairs, ideal for couples or small groups. The branding is unique and well thought out, using a nice green across menus, decals and merch as well as fun iconography that feels authentic to their South East Asian roots. This is often overlooked by a lot of independent restaurants. The food is delicious across the board with complex flavours and textures. I couldn't name anything I tried that would rank below a 7/10.Our first visit we sampled everything we could with helpful recommendations from the staff. Crispy fried fennel with crab mayo being a personal highlight for us. So much so we (unsuccessfully) tried to make it ourselves at home. Originally when we came the menu felt like a South East Asian tapas with a diverse selection of small plates. However on our most recent visit the menu has been streamlined towards a more typical starter and main arrangement. The starters being a tasty array of steamed or fried dumplings and the mains being either a noodle or rice bowl, with the addition of some small side plates. I'd be lying to say that this wasn't a little disappointing but given the current cost of living crisis and increasing supply costs for independent businesses I can totally understand why they would switch to this approach. It certainly won't deter me from returning and I can only hope that one day they bring back my beloved crispy fennel.

Best food in the area by far. Nice setting and staff are great. One of my favourite places to eat.

Very sad to report the new menu and food is not up to previous menu. Chicken bowl was dry and tasteless, pork bowl far to powerful and no real broth. Beef bowl very little broth. Dumplings were no where near as good as usual, fillings all had same texture and unable to tell apart. We used to love coming here and I have previously given a 5 star rating unfortunately we will probably not be back.Vegetarian options: Dumplings

Delicious food (plenty of options for vegetarians and those needing gluten free alternatives), lovely service, excellent atmosphere, delicious cocktails.

We've been visiting this place for the last couple of years and absolutely love it. Great service, amazing food - the vegetarian dumplings are wonderful - delightful cocktails and an amazing vibe to the place. Would thoroughly recommend booking in advance too.

We took a gamble and just walked in on a Saturday. The place was crowded but still got a table for 2. Very happy that we choose Dorshi to eat at. Very nice food and drinks and super friendly staff. Great vibe and a mixture of guests.Vegetarian options: Ate noodles with shitake and springonion

Dorshi is one hell of a find. The atmosphere of this small restaurant is welcoming and homely. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The quality if the food is excellent, from the dumplings to the noodle bowls, our meal was remarkable. They have a bar that serves cocktails that are extremely well made by a master mixologist. We are very happy that we found this restaurant and took a chance on it. 10/10 we will return, and often.

I feel sad leaving this review having left lots of 5 star reviews for Dorshi before. We haven't been for several years due to covid (although we had takeaways in covid) and also due to their menu change where they had removed all the wide flat noodle dishes from their menu. These were our favourite. We felt it was time to return as it was always one of our top 3 local restaurants. We had dumplings which were always great and still were. We then chose bowls where you could have rice or noodles...but these were not the noodles we had been spoilt with years ago but ones that we knew we weren't keen on. So we went for rice and chose the type of meat we wanted. These were nice but nothing more than that. It lacked the depth of flavours that we were spoilt with here years ago. We really really missed those wide flat noodles and full bowls! We felt for the price that we weren't getting quite what we were used to from Dorshi. We used to feel full with no room for pudding as well as feeling we had had the best meal out. Unfortunately we didn't feel like that this time. It was a nice meal but not like it used to be which was a little disappointing for us. The staff have always been amazing here and that was still very much the case. They were brilliant. I just wish the food was as brilliant all round as it used to be. Maybe we chose the wrong thing? It was still very nice but not quite what we had hoped for

Amazing food and a really lovely venue, hidden down an alleyway. Great decor and a really relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Flavours and choice of dishes was superb.

Lucky, lucky Bridport to have this gem of a restaurant. Amazing food - dumplings, noodles, rice, broths, pork belly, everything delicious and imaginative. Delightful staff and laid out upstairs so each party has privacy. Also terrific value. Long may they prosper.Vegetarian options: Enough options to satisfy
