We found this place last minute on NYE and although I was worried why it was quite quiet on NYE, it was a lovely place to stop for lunch. A nice roast for Sunday with a nice atmosphere and great service.

We had a Sunday roast today at The George Hotel, we were served with a smile although we arrived just after they had officially stopped serving food, the food itself was absolutely beautiful and large portions, we will definitely be having more food here when next in the area, to sum up, The George has a very nice restaurant area, excellent and friendly service and wonderful food, definitely would highly recommend

What an amazing lunch, there were 22 of us having 2 or 3 courses each.on the Christmas menu. The service was excellent and the meals were absolutely delicious! I would definitely recommend The George.

Dropped in here on an impromptu visit to Bridport, was a bit sceptical of only 14 reviews given this place has been here for ages …still unsure why such a low number … Anyway, fish and chips on the menu, 2 sizes, small and large, we queried the size and told the large fish is as big as the plate, the small half the size - we went for large, it came and was small, when presented the server said ‘seems like it’s shrunk’ - it was ok, but quite thin and certainly not large nor £18 value wise. Goodness knows how small the small would have been ! Won’t be returning

We treated ourselves to Sunday Lunch out today and Wow! We had heard amazing things lately, about the standard of food at The George and this seriously, was the best Sunday Lunch I have had. Everything was just cooked to perfection, the red cabbage was exquisite and the cauliflower cheese would have been a fantastic meal on its own, it goes without saying that the beef, yorkies and roast potatoes were awesome too. I think its rare to go out for a roast and find everything miles better than you could do yourself at home but this is it! Portion sizes were incredibly generous .... we didn't quite make pudding, even though I really wanted to try the Lemon Posset. All in a welcoming, cosy environment, even our dog was made a fuss of! Would highly recommend.

We called in for a quick snack mid Saturday morning & enjoyed a cream tea & bacon baguette. The bacon baguette was delicious served on warm bread, generously buttered & the bacon was perfectly cooked. The cream tea was tasty & the scone warmed & pot of tea was extremely generous. The staff were friendly, efficient & welcoming & we will definitely return.
