I didn't try the food but it was excellent to meet up with a friend and have beers...friendly and pretty easy to park near.

An unassuming looking place, and quite small, but excellent food and service. Even the two vegans in our group were well catered for.

Nice pub....no parkingUPDATE The pub have now said they have a great veggie menu....sadly the menus were on the table ready and so noone told me about the separate plant based menu...rest of family had great choice and really enjoyed food.Coke/diet coke comes from a large bottle so i do resent paying through the nose for a pint when you know how much the bottle costs ..and it's no longer that fizzyTeam were great, food was fab, quirky bits of decorVegetarian options: An extensive menu for plant based but wasn't shown to me

We were staying at Newlands Holiday Site and the Royal Oak Inn was a 20minute stroll from the site. We had booked a table the previous night and were extremely pleased with the pub. The service from arrival to leaving was excellent with a pleasant evening atmosphere. We had a three course meal and menu choice was extensive. Our food was marvellous with clean plates all round.?(dog friendly)Vegetarian options: Banana blossom and chips was a great choice

Lovely little pub full of locals. Food was freshly cooked and good. Service was good. Able to book a table in advance - just as well as all tables reserved on a Saturday night in January!

Cosy friendly pub with great Sunday roast lunch today. Popular so need to book but we were very fortunate as early walk-ins.

The prettiest pub, food great value for money, Chloe is very responsive for bookings and reservations. Great to have the choice of internal and outside. Loving the winter fire.

Great food, great atmosphere. Very impressed with the separate gluten free menu. Nice to see a restaurant/pub taking coeliac disease and allergy’s seriously. Well done Royal Oak.

Ate here two nights and other than the company it was amazing. I was here with my wife and she is a fussy eater and even she was impressed which is a rare thing these days. Absolutely loved the food and would highly recommend.

Just average. Starter to share no plates just a bowl of food. Main course fish & chips, burnt onions pieces on the fish clearly from the fryer. If you are in Charmouth on a weekday in November there isn’t much choice so very limited options. I’m sure with some more attention to detail the Royal Oak could be good.
