We stumbled across the beautiful cafe today, whilst looking for a bite to eat out of the rain and aren't we so glad we visited. The cafe is wonderfully clean and the gentleman I assume maybe the owner was so genuine and accommodating it was a thoroughly lovely experience. We only had sandwiches today as we were looking for a small bite to eat but these must have been the best we've had in ages, all ingredients you could taste were fresh and local and as for the bread more like bloomer bread I can't wait to have another one or maybe even try there breakfast... Oh and definitely buy some more traditional Lardy cake to take home which was to die for.My husband and I both agree we will come out of our way to visit and support this small special business. Highly recommended thankyou so much.

Dropped by briefly for coffee and cake this Saturday just gone by. Café had a really nice homely vibe you can feel the moment you enter. Staff were super polite without being overbearing and the service was faultless. Lemon sponge cake was unbelievable as well.Price wise, there's cafe's (not just franchises) that charge considerably more for a lesser product. So zero complaints there.

omg I’m so surprised the best coffee in Dorchester is in here !!! Today I discovered this little cafe and I liked it immediately after 5 mins in there. It’s so homey and friendly , the breakfast potion is big and yum. Seems like they have regulars comes everyday , so cute . the latte I had was sooooo good honestly one of the best I’ve ever had in England

Used to be fairly regular customers and were always very pleased with the food and the welcome we received. Returned twice very recently for lunch. Nothing had changed - great food, efficient service, with the same warm welcome from the owner. Clearly, there were plenty of regular eaters there too, all of whom the owner knew by name. Food is reasonably priced, unpretentious and the 'specials' are a bit more original than you'd normally find in a high street cafe. Bought take-away cakes which were excellent - especially the Beltane cake. Many thanks, John and team. We'll be back, for sure.

We arrived at a busy time... And found the man possibly the owner or manager to be extremely rude. Im a wheelchair user and he pushed us outside and told us to wait til a table was free. Finally was allowed in a d ordered our lunch...vegan avocado and tomato sandwich which arrived as a tuna tomato sandwich...I bought the mistake to the owners attention who snatched it from my hands and whiskers it away without a word. I have never been made to feel like such a nuisance and so unwelcome before Before my disability I used to visit the horse with the red umbrella regularly and I have never been treated like that It was so disappointing that my fond memories were ruined ...I'll find somewhere else for lunch in future

As a chef of 33 years I was talking to another chef about breakfast in the Bridport area , Instead he dropped me off virtually outside here and said “. Go have breakfast in here and il pick you up in an hour “After a full English and two cappuccinos with toast later I was picked up , And the grinning chef said “. It’s a cool place isn’t it ?” After both of us chuckling and agreeing , yeah. I replied. Was worth the drive and the visit , A good experience , I will definitely pop in again

Recommended by a fellow chef , Couldn’t fault it , really happy and will return , a great cake selection that caught my eye. But due to time constraints. I just had time for breakfast and two great tasting cappuccinos , Great atmosphere. And prompt chirpy service. I loved its charm

Really nice..Like an old fashioned tea room atmosphere..Friendly , cosy , nice home cooked food and incredibly good value.I had been here years ago and remembered how nice it was , so when we passed through we made a point to stop by.I am so glad this place is still going. I was worried it would of suffered due to the pandemic. But it was just as alive and lovely as I remember.I wish more places like this existed but sadly they are a dying breed. We went for lunch and took dessert home.Be it a coffee and cake , meet a friend, lunch stop or just come and enjoy the food and atmosphere, definitely worth a go.A hidden gem. Thanks to all the staff for lovely food and experience
