Pubs in Gillingham

“My wife and I have frequented the red lion since moving to Gillingham Dorset last year. After completing renovation of our house late last year we found the red lion and joined the others who enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and banter with other Patrons. Bar staff are friendly and eager to please. Beer for me is superb, and those we have got to know since going there are fun easy to get along with. Dog friendly which is always a bonus, clean and tidy. But the most attractive for us is the monthly pub quiz which is well attended, extremely well put together and we look forward to joining every month.”

“FOR some strange reason I have never been to Gillingham even though I live in Dorset. That was rectified recently when we decided to drive up and spend part of a day there. We visited the town's very good little museum and later had a meal in a cafe before we felt the need for a pint. With no knowledge we had to ask about local pubs and one resident recommended we try The Phoenix because it was a friendly pub where the beer was kept well. They were right on both counts with staff giving us a nice welcome and pouring me a pint which was as clear as crystal and very tasty. Fittings were simple and basic but the toilets were clean and well kept which is all you can ask of any pub you visit. Certainly we'd have no hesitation in coming back to the Phoenix when next we are in the area.”
