We wanted to try somewhere local and friendly on our afternoon at Poole for a Sunday lunch and the Rooe and Anchor did not disappoint.Fantastic Lamb and chicken options, the whole family enjoyed it, from tender meat to perfect roast potatoes and veg, and all staff were so friendly. Great value, great food and also the pub was spotless!

The Sunday roast was delicious and gluten free. A most enjoyable lunch time, with attentive staff who made sure all was as we wished.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free is no problem

We had a drink here once before and the staff were so friendly so decided to return to eat. We received a warm welcome from Tom as we arrived. Dog friendly also helped. Tom who was serving was friendly and really helpful. He even suggested we take a seat and he’d bring over my Guinness once it was ready. Nice touch!! Orders were taken quickly and food turned up faster than we expected given it was all cooked fresh. Amazing burgers and lovely curry. All hot and very tasty. We were asked if everything was good.. It was Warm and cosy pub/restaurant and a nice Christmas New Year treat. Thank you.

Popped in this evening with the hubby for some food and drinks. The food was fantastic, hot and came out really quick, even though it was busy. The hospitality was second to none, it’s not often you go to a pub and have such friendly conversation. The young man behind the bar (think he was the manager) was so chatty and accommodating. Would love to visit again, but only in the area for a flying visit. I will definitely recommend to friends and visitors in the area, great night!

I went to The Rope and Anchor last Friday and the whole experience was immaculate. Despite being the only server behind the bar, the staff member on shift was excellent and made every effort to make sure customers were happy. I think his name was Tom. I was still able to get served quickly and Tom was funny and attentive. Would recommend this bar to anyone visiting Poole, or anyone in Poole that has never ventured into this bar.

Came in yesterday for a few drinks with my boyfriend and was served by the lovely new manager Tom. He was so welcoming, accommodating and chatty! He really went the extra mile for us to make us feel welcome and comfortable. I will definitely be coming back just from his service alone! Great work Tom, You’re an asset to the pub!

Very good hospitality, the bar man I think he said he was called Simon (maybe wrong) very welcoming nothing to much trouble and seemed happy in his work . We had a roast which was very nice good assortment of vegetables and lots of them cooked to perfection. Simple choice of two meats is more than enough. I would say it was how a roast should be a proper sunday dinner without making it fussy home from home. Definitely go again and recommend

Music sounded good from outside, so entered and found a nicely decorated area with a good atmosphere and people seeming to enjoy themselves. Decided to stay so waited patiently to order drinks.....this is where it all went wrong. Didn't mind the wait as bar was busy, but when our 2 drinks were eventually pushed towards me, with the lady serving disappearing very quuckly with no receipt offered or given. We discovered basically 2 glasses of ice with not enough liquid for a mouth full. As we were so disgusted, we decided to post a review and leave ASAP. An aggressive staff member (claimed it was his bar, but not sure if true?)discovered what we were doing and shouted at us to leave accusing us of lying and having drunk our drink before we took the photo of the virtually empty glass . We were more than happy to leave, but want to warn others to watch the drink measures.Would happily have posted picture here if was able to

We were really starting to like this pub, nice decor, one decent ale, lovely young lady behind the bar. So thought we'd try the new menu, only fish n chips, what could go wrong. First one burnt on the outside, cold in the middle. Asked for another, no problem, second one couldn't even try it, burnt on the outside again. Gave up.

Popped in after a wonderful evening out in Poole. This was our 3rd of 3 establishments visited. Ordered 2 baileys and were shocked to receive 2 glasses of ice with barely enough product to taste. A man claiming to be the owner of the bar became aggressive when he discovered we were going to post our experience on social media! He accused us of drinking the contents, despite the fact we had only just received our 'purchase'. If we had been offered a receipt we could have proved this. Told not to cone back. Believe me, no chance if that!
