Proper locals pub , tucked away on a street near the sea/ harbour that looked like would have been very vibrant years ago. 3 closed pubs all around it was sad to sea. Live sports on a big screen with discreet volume, and friendly folk.As draft beers stocked were pretty much all from the Molson Coors range , wasnt too much I could have as they are all with isinglass so had a bottle.Still a decent real pub, use it or lose it

The only proper pub left on this road. Although they don't serve food here, they allow you to order in from takeaways etc, and you can eat in or have a pint or 3 and wait for your delivery.....it's like a local hub for food deliveries but you can have a drink, watch sports while you wait. They have all the local menus to hand, buy a pint, peruse your fave menu , order, chill and wait for delivery..... Simples.

I had the pleasure of visiting this establishment for the first time on Thursday 14th April 2022. You really won’t find a more wretched hive of villainy in all of Portland. The shutters as it’s known to friends does provide a good mix of both seafarers/dockyard workers and Portland local celebrities. On the night in question I had the pleasure of meeting some of the big names including ‘Dirty Amy’ the barmaid, Kayleigh who isn’t directly employed by this establishment but is often found behind the bar and a man in a wheelchair who I observed with curiosity as he drank a cold tin of Heinz chicken soup directly from the can.The atmosphere at the start of the night was lively but the consumption of vast quantities of alcohol did had a negative impact on some of those present. As the night drew on ‘Dirty Amy’ abandoned work having downed multiple fireball shots and was observed being sick into a dog bowl whilst sitting on the couch. It was pleasing to see that Kayleigh really stepped up to the plate and helped out. I observed Kayleigh heading to the ladies toilets armed with gloves, disinfectant spray and a tea towel. I was initially impressed with the regular/late night cleaning routines but did notice a ‘strong smell’ emanating from the tea towel as Kayleigh returned. On enquiry it transpired that someone had in fact decided to void their bowels in the ladies toilet sink.Kayleigh maintained the party atmosphere and a young man was then seen doing belly button shots as she lay down by the pool table. Photographic evidence of these chaotic scenes is attached to this review but the faces of those involved have been obscured to protect their dignity. The point of no return occurred shortly after when I observed ‘Dirty Amy’ cleaning permanent marker pen off her arm using the same excrement covered tea towel. On leaving the bar the gentleman in the wheelchair was found tipped over in the gutter outside. Help was offered but impolitely declined. He managed to self-right and was last seen wheeling off into the darkness. In short I would recommend a visit for the experience but I’d probably buy bottled drinks just in case they use the same tea towel to dry the glasses. Overall 3/5.

A real gem. So lovely to find a real pub. The service here was first class. Friendly and efficient. The surroundings clean and honest. We were visiting, but there were plenty of locals who were all superb company. The gents WC was quite simply the cleanest convenience I've ever had the privilege of using. Bright, fresh and clean.A free house, there was choice at the taps and a healthy selection of Gins amongst the usual suspects. I didn't get the opportunity to try any of the food, outside a packet of pigbits and a pickled egg . My consumption thereof made my best friend's mother very happy for some reason. So I will get her a jar for Xmas.In brief, you should seek out this lovely venue and experience real Portland hospitality at its most pleasant.

It's a cheap, no frills pub that looks a bit run down from the outside. It may not be for everyone but staff and patrons were very friendly so I liked it!
