Crab House Café
Ferrymans Way, Portland Rd, WeymouthMy second visit after a 5 year gap and wasn't disappointed. Wonderful fresh local seafood, served in delightfully crafted dishes, creative but not over-complicated. We had the fresh oysters of course and they were as great as I remember. The scallop starter, crab remoulade and monkfish skewers served with a curry were other highlights. Friendly, unfussy but attentive service. We had a wonderful meal and will return again when back in the area.

Sugar Loaf Cafe
4 Reforne, Easton, PortlandNot fine dining.....but definitely good grub. Generously portioned homemade and homecooked dishes. Steak pie with veg and roast potatoes was more than I could finish and as a butchers son I'm picky about the quality of meat used. Great value at £10. Won't be our last visit..."we'll be back"!!

Britannia Inn
17 Fortuneswell, PortlandWent in for a pint with my dogs, we were all very welcome. It was quiet when we went in so can't comment on weekend atmosphere but beer range is good, although as a lover of local ale, would be nice to see more local ales on choice but those on offer are very nice and very reasonably priced, £4.70 for pint and packet of crisps. Good music on the TV, very nice place to stop off for a pint or three :)

Dorset Adventure Cafe
OUTDOOR CENTRE, PortlandThis is a really interesting place. We went for breakfast as random visitors rather than adventure seekers. We were 4 adults and one teenager. The food was great, with what I consider to be generous portions. There's a super relaxed vibe and so I think it would be a good place to bring any number of noisy children without anyone being offended.

The Green Shutters
12 Castletown, PortlandProper locals pub , tucked away on a street near the sea/ harbour that looked like would have been very vibrant years ago. 3 closed pubs all around it was sad to sea. Live sports on a big screen with discreet volume, and friendly folk.As draft beers stocked were pretty much all from the Molson Coors range , wasnt too much I could have as they are all with isinglass so had a bottle.Still a decent real pub, use it or lose it

Portland Kebab House
40 Easton St, Easton, PortlandI wasn't sure whether a Turkish pizza would be any good but I was really pleasantly surprised. I had a Mexicana (spicy meat, jalapeños, etc) and it was really good - well-cooked, fluffy base, well-loaded with toppings, better than any Dom**os pizza I've had. Absolutely delicious, and just the right level of lip-tingling spiciness.

Afternoon Tea at Heights Hotel
The Heights Hotel, Yeates Rd, PortlandThis is a great hotel; rooms are spotless and very comfortable, the Bistro offers amazing views and the food is excellent too (one tiny criticism; the evening menu needs a lighter option). What really makes this hotel special is the staff- every single person we came across was friendly, attentive and efficient. Special thanks to Belinda, she is an absolute treasure and really looked after my 89 year old mum. Thank you so much! We would definitely recommend this hotel and cannot wait to return.

The Hayloft
Pennsylvania Rd, PortlandA smart and sharp place, lovely garden area in warmer weather and delightful inside. Nice selection of drinks inc some bottle beers. Vegan options lacking sadly. There was a soup option today, which was ok (cauli and carrot) which came with nice warm bread but no dairy free butter. Surely having a tub of something like flora in the kitchen wouldn't be a problem? Still nice place otherwiseVegetarian options: Little for vegans
