Everybody was very pleased with the venue that The Grosvenor Arms had recommended. The staff were all very pleasant and polite, the food was excellent, so full marks to everyone.

After a recent refit, The Mitre is even better than before! Popped in for a light lunch and couple of beers. It was packed but staff are really helpful and accommodating. I'm gluten free and I have to say I had the *best* beef and horseradish sandwich ever! Cosy, inviting, warm - a definite must if you're visiting North Dorset, and Shaftesbury in particular.

The Mitre in Shaftesbury is much improved after recent refurbishment. Family meal on Christmas eve was very good. Special mention to James who served us and catered for requested changes to food we had.

Lovely views of the surrounding fields. Nice and secluded so we could all catch up. The staff were excellent- very attentive and nothing took too long. Food on the whole was excellent - very tasty and on time. Slight grumble with portion sizes e.g. chips but that's only a slight grumble. All in all...excellent place for lunch.

I love what the new management have done to the Mitre in the last year. It was always a lively pub but now the food has come on leaps and bounds - it’s menu is more varied and the quality of food is just excellent. Big respect to the kitchen staff. We came for an early evening family meal. We had the ploughman’s sharing platter, which was just perfect. Followed by burgers, steak and kids mac n cheese. I had the Sea Bass, which was cooked perfectly and went beautifully with the sauce and potatoes. Excellent service from Lauren and Carmen at the table and a nice welcome from Viktor and the team at the bar. We also liked that the food wasn’t rushed out so we had time to enjoy our drinks and chat. We also came for Sunday lunch a few months back and that was equally good. Definitely five stars from me.

Visited with my cousin who was down for the weekend and just loves Shaftesbury and particularly its views. I called in to make a booking which was dealt with very pleasantly and efficiently. When we turned up on the day the bar was quite busy and it took a fair while for us to get drinks and be seated. For a while nobody took our order and we had an impending sense that the meal would not go well. Our order was taken by a rather dreamy waitress and we had to keep repeating and clarifying what we wanted. But then matters took an upward turn. The same waitress who had taken my booking a few days earlier suddenly entered the scene and very quickly took charge of our table and those around us. She was efficient and had a very nice manner such as one wants on a special occasion. The food was delicious, chosen from a most appetising menu. I was tempted to have two desserts and we left on a high, I want to award full marks as I feel our waitress, whose name I believe was Rebecca, really went above and beyond with food choice and quality to match.

Absolutely shocking service took almost an hour and a half to get one burger after asking bar staff multiple times where it was and there was no response then went up to ask for the money back and almost by magic it was ready along side the bug on the chip poor definitely would not recommend wouldn’t even feed this too my dog as for the prices we won’t talk about that because it doesn’t resemble the food quality also chef was using unacceptable language about customers ordering food although there was only 3 food orders wouldn’t go again

Sunday lunch was the worst I’ve ever had. I had 2 roast potatoes, once I asked for them, 3 sprouts and a tablespoon of red and green cabbage

We decided to visit the mitre after its refurbishment so booked for dinner on a Saturday night. The interior is beautiful. We were seated promptly the food was delicious especially the venison ragu, the best pasta dish I’ve had out in a long long time. Highly recommend for a casual meal out.

Visited The Mitre on Sunday 15th October with my best friends. We had a lovely meal, the food was beautifully cooked and delicious. We were served by a lovely, friendly young lady called Ella, who was very professional and attentive. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit
