I like Beavers when visiting Swanage, the food is good and reasonably priced. Bit disappointed a couple of weeks ago when we were the last in the restaurant to finish our meal, the waitress came over and instead of offering the usual " can I get you anything else" asked how we wanted to pay! That with a member of staff mopping the floor around our table suggested it was time to leave...........

We spent 3 days staying in Swanage and had lunch at the Beaver all 3 days. The Beaver is our favourite place to eat in Swanage because the food is always prepared and presented well, a good choice, good portions and fairly priced. The staff are always friendly and efficient and the restaurant is always very clean. Thank you. Recommended.

Called in for a quick lunch, and I had a Ham Ploughman's, which was nicely presented, if not the largest I've had, but still tasty. The interior was old but clean and reasonable comfortable.

Enjoyed the worst level of service and manners I have ever experienced! Arrogant, ignorant and spiteful staff and management. They have obviously had numerous issues as they have what seems a well practiced routine in dealing with complaints. We were looking for somewhere to eat in Swanage and this was the only cafe to have room, there were only three tables occupied. We were approached by the waitress to take our order and we asked for a little time to decide ,she went away in a strop! Came back as asked but with a definite change in attitude,we kept calm and ordered our meal. Stroppy brought our tea and pot of hot water and both were only half full. The meal arrived one cheese and mushroom toastie and sausage, beans and chips. Pre-cooked sausages, reheated, and overcooked chips,I have eaten in many greasy spoons so do not raise my expectations. Ate what we could and asked for the bill. On leaving had a word with stroppy waitress and told her her manners and level of service were not what were used to,just as well have talked to my precooked, reheated, sausages. Now like a well oiled machine head waitress?? came up and challenged me on my complaint, I repeated my complaint to no avail and then what I assume was the owner, came rushing down telling me aggressively to get out of the cafe. I didn't take kindly to his aggressive manner and the fact that my complaint was not taken seriously. I gave the owner the opportunity to discuss the matter further out of earshot of the people eating ,but his response from behind head waitress was WHY DON'T YOU JUST P*SS OFF! Obviously when you eat here you are expected to accept whatever they throw at you and no complaints please or tempers will fray! We are lucky in that we have a choice where we eat ,but on this occasion,we were very unlucky to arrive at Beavers cafe Swanage. We can only compare this cafe with other places we ate on holiday, the Sea Horse Harvester in Poole offer excellent service and waiter Dan gave great service. The food and service on Condor ferries Liberation was excellent and also the Gatehouse Wareham and Groves restaurant Bridport are worthy of mention. No problems with manners or service at any of these establishments. So all things considered Beavers cafe Swanage offered a terrible experience, we are just glad this is not representative of the people of Swanage in general. If I could offer any advice to these people,I would say all three of you should look in the mirror, would you expect to be treated in this way in any situation? also, put a "Closed Down" sign in your window. A truly shocking experience, all of which the facts, I stand by. One star awarded only because you can't give less.
