Extremely friendly & helpful staff. The food is excellent! The venue is wheel chair friendly. We had a 92year old attend and they don't eat a lot, usually not able to finish a standard size meal. But having a selection of dishes on the menu titled 'Small Appetite' is fantastic, wish more places had this as an option. They were able to finish it all and have pudding with everyone else. Great experience and will definitely dine here again.

A real delight. Food was well presented and tasted just right. Paul and his staff were very cheerful and looked after us very well. We rang ahead with choices from their Christmas menu and one of our party was gluten and dairy free and they went the extra mile to make sure she was able to have the same food we did without feeling like she was making a fuss. The pub itself is warm and cosy and not too busy. At least on a foggy Saturday at 2pm it wasn't. After a chilly time spent at Swanage Christmas Market it was lovely to warm up by the fire and enjoy the ambience. Thank you so much for looking after us.

The pub was old& worldly, beautiful friendly staff which made you feel very welcome, clean&tidy. The meal arrived promptly. It was lovely and cosy in the pub. Lots of other customers came in as we were there and they were all felt welcome and treated with respect. The pub had five different rooms you could sit in with lovely old wooden tables. We were there on holiday in the area and we were glad we chose that pub as it make the end of our day out exploring so special.

Just had a brilliant wedding anniversary meal for 6 of us here. Super food, cosy surroundings (not too noisy) and very attentive, friendly service. Absolutely nothing not to like, and lots of good reasons to come again!

Whilst on holiday in Dorset I wanted a meal in a country pub. I’m a disabled solo traveller and so I phoned in advance to make sure I could get a table. I was told that it was a quiet evening and I did t need to book. I set out immediately but traffic was heavy and I drove for almost 50 minutes to get there. On arrival at 745pm Iwas told that “ I’m sorry we are not taking walk ins” I explained what I’d done and that I’d been told to come, but was refused a meal, being told they were under staffed. It was suggested that I drive elsewhere to eat. The place appeared about 1/3full with people already eating. I asked as a solo traveller who’d driven so far if I could be squeezed into one of the many empty tables. There was bar staff and what appeared to be other staff milling around. Bottom line was I couldn’t get a meal and to get somewhere else would be difficult due to the time.. Once in my car I managed to locate another place in Ulwell who agreed to allow me to get there even though the kitchen technically close in 15 minute. I got there in around 25 minutes and was treated exceptionally by the staff. And I got a very good meal. I’m sorry Halfway Inn but I’ll never try you again. To be told to just come over and then refused service really isn’t very good.

2nd visit to this charming pub for Sunday lunch whilst on holiday in the area. Had Roast Lamb which was delicious. Large portions, so no room for desert unfortunately. Would recommend.
