Lovely cosy pub, roaring fires, and beautiful outside space at the rear. Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Food was excellent.

I can see why the pub has won awards. Great ale and superb service. Solid menu. Food was top notch. Friendly atmosphere.

Favourite pub in Wareham! Great food, nice welcome, decent drink choices, nice open fire. What's not to love??

Traditional English pub with an excellent selection of beer that changes regularly, a good menu with a choice for everyone, i've eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. If you wish to dine on Sunday lunchtime, then you will need to book a couple of weeks in advance as it's always very popular.

The smell of a wood burning fire was delightful but the ash seemed to be building up significantly. The toilets were fairly clean but dated. The cutlery that did arrive for my family was in a grimey and rusty old bucket. I myself had to remind the waitress I needed cutlery to eat and then ask again when they didn't bring them with a serviette. Best chips I have ever had, loved the selection of fish in the fish basket and was presented well and cooked to perfection on a bed of lovely salad. Definitely recommend food wise and had a good atmosphere.

Xmas evening 2/ 3 course meal . Fabulous night with hot and beautifully cooked food. Waitress service was exceptional and they should be very proud. Thank you for a lovely night . Wareham Carnival Committee .

Bob, Caroline, Joe & the team never disappoint! It was my wife’s b’day and we wanted to have drinks with family & friends at the horse and groom. The service was amazing and everyone had an amazing time, thanks to everyone at the Horse and groom. Such an amazing place that we can’t stay away from!! Thankyou!!

Wow! Absolutely blown away, definitely deserves pub of the year. Food was perfect, really nice atmosphere and good service for a reasonable price.

Really good choice of local ales and standard bar drinks, lovely place, lots of history and good friendly staff.

We went as a family here, staff were fine- not especially warm but fine. Fish and chips was fine- very large portions which personally we found a bit silly as so much food ends up wasted. Chips were nice. There was only one vegetarian option and it was a halloumi/avo burger. It was a burger bun with some fried halloumi, mashed up avo and a few lettuce leaves. Nothing else in the bun. It was pretty tasteless and can say it was the worst vegetarian burger I’ve had in years. Sort your burger game guys! Vege burgers can be so tasty and full of good stuff, even a simple tomato would have jazzed this boring thing up a bit. Couldn’t even be bothered to finish my food (which is unusual for me!). These days I expect much more re vegetarian options, wouldn’t go back here tbh.Vegetarian options: Very poor

Lovely warm welcome when we arrived, which was a bit earlier than we had booked for, but nothing too much trouble for the friendly staff here. Sunday roast was absolutely fabulous. Very generous portions and we left feeling absolutely stuffed! Really wanted to try one of the tempting desserts, but just couldn’t fit anything else in! Highly recommend and would definitely return on a future visit.

Was looking for a decent Sunday lunch and walked by this pub on the way to another. We are so glad that we stopped here as the food was the best that we had had in a long time and the service was friendly and pleasant! The best vegetarian roast meal that I think I’ve ever had and i can be fussy ? Well done for making a great impression on us and thank you. We will definitely be recommending this pub to others!

Hubby had Cajun chicken, which he said was delicious. I had cod & chips, the thickest, tastiest cod I've ever had, it was beautiful. The place is clean, the staff very efficient and super-friendly and the price very reasonable. Would ld definitely recommend.

Busy, busy pub. With good reason. Good choice of beers and good food. With an authentic pub atmosphere. Excellent.

Dropped in without a Booking - Table for Two - It was very busy - Staff were excellent and advised to have a drink first and they would arrange a table. 10 minutes later, we had a table. We ordered the Special. The Barmaid came over (it was still very busy) and said that there was a better table and would we like to move. I repeat, it was very busy so to take the time out to seat us at better table is and was above and beyond in my book. The meal itself was superb - it is to my regret that I did not have room for a dessert. I intend to call in again and have no hesitation in recommending this venue to the harshest critic. Did I mention the staff are excellent Highly Recommended
