Very disappointing visit to the olive branch alpine bar. We went for a few festive drinks but all that played in the background was Jason derulo and when I asked to play some Christmas songs they were not bothered and refused. Tables were left as reserved yet no one ever came and staff did not remove. Mulled wine also a bit too tangy and burnt. Would not recommend the alpine bar

Wanted to give credit to the Team at The Olive Branch. We were a large group, visiting in December with the quality of each meal being delicious and the service being top notch! Thank you again for a very enjoyable evening.

£78 for three roast dinners and two cokes......WOW!! So, three roast beef and despite the price the beef was tough, roasts were soggy and overall wasn't a great meal. Waitress was lovely but the food was very average at best. Came to pay the bill and nearly fell off out chairs, hugely overpriced and will 100% never eat there again. The pub has huge potential, and the atmosphere is second to none, but the roast do not meet the expectations. If I was a complaining person I'd have asked the manager to eat that food but we paid and left.

My husband had the steak which was a very small portion and tough. I had the BLT which had cold streaky bacon. Both included skin on fries which were very greasy. The food prices here are very overpriced and very poor quality. I would to eat here again.

Have eaten twice at the Olive Branch in the evening. Good food and a great selection of drinks. Staff attentive and helpful. Have also enjoyed breakfast twice while staying at the sister site 1777 at the Albion. Whether for breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks, pop in and enjoy.

Disappointed, absolutely bang average. Table for 3 booked. Daughters 21st, but we hadn't mentioned it, just wanted a good quality meal, good service, nice quality time with daughter, didn't get any of that! I would say the place was quiet, verging on very quiet, maybe 6 tables upon arrival, with at least 3 already eating or having had drinks delivered. The alpine bar adjacent seemed busy. I felt cold and saw there was a wood burner stoked but not lit!? Luke warm greeting. Shown to table. Given a fair amount of time to order drinks, then waited about 15 mins for them, which is unacceptable in my opinion, only 2 people at the bar. My daughter ordered a raspberry mojito, I get that they take time to make, but deliver the others and the cocktail when it's ready? Our waitress was well presented and smart, but looked as though she had very little confidence or experience, and with that it felt like no personality or interaction. I am sure she is lovely and these things will come with experience, but where was the manager/supervisor/ experienced organiser?! Absolutely no rapport or personality, service is really important to me, train your servers to have confidence. Food order taken, with no suggestive upselling or recommendations?! Food was ordered, it arrived relatively quickly as there was only 2 checks in the kitchen that we had a good view of. The gentleman who brought our food seemed efficient and cheerful and upsold my second drink which was coffee stout at £6.20 a pint! Which was very nice, but £6.20? My daughter and I had the double cheese burger. £16.95! wow. The bun was good and garnish fresh, however the 2 tiny overcooked beef patties were lost in amongst the salad etc, and I don't mean buried under the cheese which was also apparent in its anonymity! The fries were OK, but not plentiful and the further you delved into the annoying metal chip receptacle the more they resembled scratchings and not fries. Awful value for money. My wife ordered the daily roast , again about £17. It was an aneamic plate of food. My wife said it was OK, and there was a fair amount of turkey. No carrots?1 cold pig in blanket, etc and very little gravy, so I asked for more after I eventually got someone's attention. Was told that was fine.....then nothing ! For perhaps 10 mins! Then it appeared in a TINY jug! OK fine. Poor value for money. Table cleared. We were asked if we wanted a dessert menu. No suggestive upselling. The menus turned up, but we couldn't see a price on the menu anywhere for any item! We asked another young server with dark hair what the deal was, she was polite but didn't know! She went away and came back after a few minutes and told us that all the desserts were 1 price, £7.95. So put it on the menu! By this time I was a little exasperated, I wanted to have a nice time and give you my money, more than happy to pay these prices but expect a lot more value and is there any harm in expecting some bloody good service, with a bit of charisma or interaction? I decided against a dessert armed with the knowledge of the price and then seeing 2 VERY small brownies with ice cream delivered to our next door neighbours. I wanted the cheese board but thought its just gonna wind me up when it arrived. So we asked for the bill. We received the bill after 5 mins and then, check it if you want, finally paid it 20 minutes later! If someone asks for the bill, they want to pay it, not sit and wait around in the insipid ambience!! How is that acceptable. Our bill was £82. With good atmosphere, service and a fundamental courtesy of not having to chase you for basics like gravy and a dessert price you could have easily made that £120.

We all had the roast beef, it was so tough we asked for steak knives. There was no flavour and the food was luke warm. Dessert was the Chocolate Brownie which was lovely until we found hair in it. They replaced the Brownie and deducted the price. We we wont return.

Faultless service by Archie ... so attentive and gave us a wonderful dining experience for the whole family, including our Golden Retriever. Will definitely return

Comfortable and welcoming pub with secluded areas with armchairs. 2 gin and tonics , a glass of white wine , a pint of beer and 4 packets of crisps cost over £41 .

Changed a bit (aesthetically) since my last visit (years ago!) Beautiful food, great service, friendly staff, room to breathe. Faultless. Thankyou ❤️

I booked a celebration lunch for friends, but as they don't accept cash, we were forced to leave and find an alternative place to eat at short notice. So we didn't eat there. Our short stay was extremely noisy and unpleasant.

I had lunch with family. We all enjoyed our food, and the service from staff was impeccable. I definitely recommend.

Very disappointed! Served a cold Sunday roast beef dinner with only 2 small roast potatoes and very few vegetables! The beef was chewy and tasteless. We refused to eat the meal and went elsewhere! However, we must acknowledge how helpful and friendly the waiting staff were.. they dealt with our complaint very effectively and professionally!

Such a lovely setting with a gorgeous outside area. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming. They absolutely deserve a 5* rating. That said, my reasoning for the 3 * rating is 1) that the drinks are way overpriced!! Just under £19 for a (large) glass of wine and a pint - on par with London pricing - absolutely crazy!! 2) Another thing I noticed was how untidy it was in places, napkins etc on the floor which had not been tidied up. We live locally and love the setting but really cannot justify the prices here.

Received a good welcome from the young man behind the bar. Although we booked a table we were shown to an enormous sized table which was set for a lot more people than in our group. The food was good . The drinks were very overpriced but typical of a greedy pub company looking for profit. The service was reasonable and everyone is addressed as " Guys ", yes even the ladies ! This pub does not take cash so beware. Due to this I will not return and I will tell all my friends.
