Popped in for a quick takeaway coffee. Although this Costa is located in a beautiful location, the store wasn't clean, and the toilets were absolutely filthy!!!If I return to Barnard again, visiting this place wouldn't be high on my agenda. Although I'm sure if you were to visit early when opening the toilets may well be hygienic!No issue with the staff or the service though.

Costa Coffee in Barnard Castle is a typical version of the chain. From a design perspective it is a tad bland but it is clean and tidy with plenty of seating, including a pleasant outdoor area looking onto the castle ruins. Service was efficient and the coffee good.

Beware! This branch of Costa has its own policy of not allowing dogs. You can see they have a home made sign in the window. Maybe give this place a miss?

This is the best Costa in the area because the staff are friendly, attentive and nothing is too much trouble! Also the cleanest coffee shop I have ever been in. Best Americano and cream ever. Keep up the good work.
