New Moor Farm, Walworth RdExcellent place, I’ve was lovely I have the Malteser icecream & an ice cream cake (which was amazing).
Mark down one point for the icecream cake being boxed up in a basic cake box had a nervous 30 minute drive home. Would have been 5 stars if it was boxed more appropriately (would have paid a little extra if that was even an option).

82A Galgate, Barnard CastleStopped here for some lunch, great welcome nice little dinning areas. Waited a little while for the food order but when it arrived it was worth the wait fresh and good value for money!
Best homemade chips I have had out probably, proper potatoes not frozen and cooked with love and care.

48-50 Galgate, Barnard CastleWent here to watch the football and have a few drinks. Good spot for it, plenty of screens so you can see the game no matter where you’re sat.
Staff were very friendly and will definitely pop in again when in the area.

10 Horse Market, Barnard CastleGreat, fresh, modern place which has clearly been lovingly created within an old building. Staff friendly. Chap gave us a bit of history of the place and his times as a DJ (which explained the great ambient music). Fabulous products on sale easily compare to that of renowned chocolatiers I've had elsewhere. First thing we checked when we got home was to see if they delivered! Good to see a business thriving on today's high street.

Babul's Barnard Castle
9 Market Pl, Barnard CastleGreat Indian restaurant with a bit of a different menu. Only just managed to get in booking about 4 days in advance so definitely plan ahead and book before going. Nice welcome when you get in and can wait near the bar until you’re seated. It’s quite small and cramped especially when busy but ok when you’re sat down. The menu is a little different with small and large plates and the food just comes out when it’s ready, like a tapas menu. The flavours were so good. The prawn curry was fantastic, they keep it in the shell for flavour and it works. The chicken 65 had a great flavour, just wish there was a bit more. The lamb chops were wonderful. Quite fatty and flavoursome. Great service. The waiter and waitress talked us through everything and checked on some things when unsure. Overall excellent experience and great food.

The Crown at Mickleton
Mickleton, Barnard CastleVisited a couple of times when staying in the village. Friendly welcome and responsive when double checking serving times and making a booking. Enjoyed a beer in the garden at the end of a walk. Food was great and we were tempted by the three courses which we enjoyed. Good atmosphere with a mix of diners and space for regulars to have a drink.

The Kirk Inn
Romaldkirk, Barnard CastleWe spent two nights in Romaldkirk and went in to the Kirk Inn everyday, we met some lovely people and sat and chatted in front of the log burner. Paul the owner is nothing but a gent so kind and funny, he had my sense of humour and made us feel most welcome. We called in for one pint and ended up having many more as we chatted and passed the time away. We will return. Dont be put off by first impressions as this place is a gem. Thanks again Paul and see you in the summer.

Valentine's Restaurant

What a fantastic restaurant! The food was really good and staff were so accommodating with our choices.
I had the prawn katsu curry and I can honestly say it’s the best I’ve ever eaten! I would not hesitate to recommend.

B6277, Barnard CastleSpent a weekend in Mickleton. Our pub of choice was the The Blacksmiths Arms. What a lovely village pub with olde world features. The landlord is very friendly and welcomes your dog family. We had an amazing pizza on Sunday afternoon was extremely delicious ? will definitely be back.

Middleton in Teesdale Fish & Chip Shop
49 Market Pl, Middleton-in-Teesdale, Barnard CastleBeen coming back to this award winning chip shop every year while on holiday in the area and it never disappoints. The pies, which they make themselves, are honestly some of the best I’ve had anywhere. Great pastry and generous gorgeous fillings, always cooked perfectly. You can tell they really care about the food quality here. My favourite is the minted lamb! The fish and chips are excellent too, cooked fresh for you while you wait by the super friendly staff. This is a proper honest traditional English chip shop which are really hard to find these days, and as such it’s now become a tradition for us to always visit it while we’re in the area. Be sure to look at all the awards this place has won while you wait for your food to be prepared. Highly recommended!

Atmosphere is a bit flat, the music is poor, the system used to play the music is very poor. The whole place lacks more astmosphere, better pictures, better lighting things like that. The service was poor. Didn't even get offered a dessert menu, or the opportunity to ask for a bill, no one about to get one from.

Lovely friendly staff, fresh cooked and nicely presented fish and chips and scampi and chips. Competetively priced.
Got very busy especially saturday when a singer was on so maybe a good idea to book.
