Great little traditional pub. Very good food, massive portions for the roast, friendly staff, just an all round lovely little place. Top marks.

Overnighted here on my way to Scotland in my campervan. Easy to find and access. The landlord was very welcoming and the pub is pleasant. Can't comment on the food as didn't eat. It's close to the A66 so there is road noise if you have roof vents or windows open. Would stay here again

Came across this fantastic pub on "search for sites" while looking for somewhere to stop on our way up to Scotland in our motorhome. Just off the A66, only 10 minutes from Scotch Corner with a flat, level car park, great menu with lots of choice. Exceptional food, very good value for money with a friendly atmosphere and a wonderful landlord (Martyn). Due to today's financial struggle, the pub is closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. We highly recommend this Pub.Bruce and Sharon

Great place, just off the Scotch Corner. Nice interior, plenty of spaces to sit. The staff are very friendly and helpful regarding the menu. The food was served piping hot, which in my book is a must! Price wise, I'd say respectable for what we had. And considering that we were driving back to Scotland, it was far better stopping here, having a rest and decent good food, than stopping at the services. We will come here again.

Sunday lunch was very nicely cooked and not over priced will definitely go back again best to book in advance as it gets busy

Decided to try it for tea tonight and wasn't disappointed at all. The food was so lovely, staff friendly and even though they were busy, they still made sure we were attended to.

Had Sunday lunch here as it was the closest pub lunch place on our walk from Thorpe Farm Caravan Park. The food and drink was first class and very reasonably priced. The service was excellent and the setting was wonderful. Homely type of place with roaring log fire and plenty of space inside so not cramped up with 5 of us including baby. The kids all ate their dinners which is a first and the puddings after were delicious. Also a particular thank you for the after lunch service which was massively appreciated. I will choose to have my meals here in future rather than travel to Barnard Castle or further afield. Well recommended!

Easily the best pub we’ve ever been to, had been driving for hours and desperately needed to stop for the night in our Motorhome. They couldn’t have made us feel more welcome even with us turning up just as they were about to close. They made sure we were warm, well fed and went to bed with full hearts. It was such a lovely atmosphere with an open fire and lots of laughs. Highly recommend and will definitely visit again!

Came here based on reviews for Sunday dinner. Reviews all look good, unfortunately dinner was not. There is nothing worst on a Sunday lunch than ‘vacpack meat’. The Yorkshires great, potatoes great, veg great, meat terrible. If you want Sunday dinner without proper roast carvery meat this is the place for you. Nice place but would not recommend Sunday dinner.
