Went for a friends birthday. I had steak and it was superbly cooked and delicious. I’m eager to revisit. The surroundings are nice too.

Delicious from start to finish. Great service with a smile. Would highly recommend the cheese soufflé starter and the chicken and black pudding stack, duck breast for mains. Thanks for a lovely evening.

Visited the Peppermill for the first time again since before the pandemic for a tapas night. I was really looking forward to it but left disappointed sadly. On arriving the service wasn't friendly and the waiting staff never smiled but they pushed us to order quite quickly once the rest of the party arrived. Asked if certain items on the menu could come without sauces etc. The waiting staff said they would enquire but never came back with an answer so we kept having to ask which delayed ordering. Once ordered and our dishes arrived they looked splendid and beautifully presented but sadly they all didn't taste as good as they looked. The best item was the roast potato's with cheese. Batter on the fish was soggy at the bottom, the ratatouille tasted like picked cucumber and not courgette, chicken parmo was tough, but the rest was edible. It was quite costly for 4 dishes at £28 which used to be £20 pre pandemic, so a big price hike. They were surprised we left a lot of the food and to which we explained why to which no one replied. They tried to push the dessert menu but we declined and was happy to finish our drinks before leaving. Sadly they kept asking if we could have the bill as they wanted us out in 10 mins since we weren't having dessert. On getting the bill we were overcharged for the drinks which was rectified quickly. Very disappointed and not the experience I used to enjoy there. Sadly it doesn't fill me with enthusiasm to book again but as its a popular restaurant they wont miss our business.

Amazing again. Never disappointed. I’ve made a pact with myself to always try something new and last night was exceptional. Chose from the specials for starter & main - delicious . Service great . Lovely small , friendly place . Once discovered it’s difficult to go elsewhere. An absolute gem . Great prices for such delicious food .

Came here a few months ago and ordered a cheesy garlic bread with a tub of garlic for me to notice that it was covered in black hairs, couldn’t miss it as well as the tub of garlic being covered in hairs! I rang up and demanded a refund and they told me that instead they would give me a free pizza next time I ordered so then every time since I have went into the shop and told them the manager told me to get a refund and I was told the manger was away on holiday, for about 4 months??? Then tonight I rang up and demanded to speak to the manger and he had told me to walk round and he would give me another free cheesy garlic bread, when I went inside none of them were wearing any hair protection no gloves or nothing. He stared at me and made me very uncomfortable seen as though I’m only a 17 year old young girl!!! I’ve then came home and opened the box to see this one has hairs too so instantly rang up and told him and he said ‘see you later mate’ and put the phone down on me and now is ignoring my calls!! I think this is absolutely disgusting. I would not recommend going to this place, more than likely you will get food poisoning.

Wow! Visited with large family group. ALL of us went away having had a truly amazing experience. The early bird is great value but even without this, Peppermill is super value considering the quality of the food. Lovely staff rounded off a great evening, not to mention the fantastic desserts! Highly recommended.

We have eaten here many times and the food has always been lovely and presented really nicely. On visiting last night we were really disappointed the starter was really dry with a soft boiled egg on the top of a black pudding and potato stack, the egg was hard boiled. The main coarse looked like it had just been plonked on the plate with no thought and swimming in a very vinegary jus. I left most of mine. As for the cheese board four tiny crackers and not enough cheese to fill a mouse trap but a mound of lettuce which does not belong on a cheese board unless I wanted it as a salad. The only thing I can think is it’s a new chef. I will give it another chance when they start the new menu but if it hasn’t improved I won’t be going back, which is a real shame as it was one of our favourite restaurants.

This place is fantastic, the quality and presentation of the food makes you feel special. The portions are good and it feels like effort has gone in to everything from the flavours and cooking. I enjoyed every mouthful of my meal and am still dreaming about it. This is my idea of a really great restaurant. It’s probably my favourite place to eat now.

Found it really strange the drinks menu in chalk is across the room , ( cocktails had no explanation of what's actually in them ) just the names . So obviously I guessed and chose at random. My wife's ' ordinary ' drink arrives , I sat. Then a waitress asked if we ready to order , I stated I hadn't had my drink yet, she snapped ' its a cocktail' and walked away. After sitting , I then pulled a second waitress asking where my drink was and if there's a problem? She assured me nicer than the first it was coming. It arrived and well, the tiniest glass I'd ever seen , half full , and fir £8 meant it was £1 a tablespoons worth by the amount that was in the glass. Not worth the wait. We felt at this point that we wanted to go , but in for a penny we stayed. After starters and a main which was cooked nice, we left still hungry as the portions are so small. Overall disappointed.
