Got a salad from the salad bar, mostly pasta, enjoyed it. Completed the meal deal with a full fat red bull and a boost bar. Bishop Auckland great place - needs a brothel.

Very poor experienceWe queued up to wait for the electronic order boards. Takes ages to find things. Quite a lot of items missing from menu.Paid and went to collect our drinks. All the coffee machines were broken and there was a kettle and a jar of Morrisons own brand instant coffee there. I asked where the Americanos were and the woman pointed to the instant coffee. Not only did I not expect to have to make my own coffee but didn't expect to pay £2 for 2p worth of awful coffee. I asked why they didnt just remove it from the menu - the woman really wasn't very helpful and eventually just refunded. My partner ordered a glass of milk - again no milk and was pointed to those tiny pots of long life milk. It would have taken about 150 of them to fill a glass. This turned out to be an error though and a member of staff explained to the lady that milk is kept in the fridge. She then poured some into a cardboard takeaway cup and gave it to usThe food came almost instantly, not sure if it had just been microwaved or not. My fish and chips was ok. Not a lot of taste, tons of tiny bones and not very fresh tasting. Batter was nice though. Mushy peas were disgusting, no salt or flavour. My partner had sausage and mash. Tinned peas, dried out sausage and she said the mash was not nice at allOther members of staff were friendly and helpful, but it was just a miserable experience and I won't be going back.

Just awful - very disappointing would not recommend. Staff hopeless, no one on till and dirty dishes on a lot of the tables despite few customers. Food disgraceful, avoid.

When I think of Morrison's, I think of shopping and Market Street, not somewhere to go for a hot meal. That said, when my partner suggested we go in on a Saturday afternoon for food at the cafe, I thought 'why not'. I was sceptical of the experience I may have because, in my previous experience (both professional working in catering and personal from attending), supermarket cafes tend to be expensive and the food is of poor quality. I am a fan of value and getting the most for what you pay for and I have often found myself paying above the odds for a meal in cafe in a supermarket that I could have got for cheaper and better elsewhere. I did, however, trust in my partner's suggestion as he raved about the fish and chips he had there the week before. We arrived at the cafe on a Saturday afternoon around 4pm and it was quite quiet. The cafe itself is quite large (deceptively so from the outside) and we were able to walk straight in, order and take a seat. At this cafe (I am not sure if it is the same elsewhere), you place your order using a self-service digital desk where you take a table flag and then find somewhere to sit. You help yourself to hot water for your tea (we paid for two pots) as well as two sachets of sauces etc. The restaurant was quite quiet with about 6 other people inside so we found a table straight away. I ordered the all-day breakfast and my partner ordered fish and chips. The food arrived about 10 minutes after ordering so it was not long at all. The food was presented well and it was hot so it had not sat under a heat lamp drying out. My breakfast came with fried bread (which I had not had for years) as well as sausages, beans, a poached egg (you can choose poached, scrambled or fried), hash browns, mushrooms, tomatoes and bacon. It was delicious and rivalled breakfasts I have had elsewhere for a similar price. My partner's fish and chips arrived and even though I do not eat fish, it looks and smelled delicious. My partner thoroughly enjoyed his meal and raved again about the fish stating how 'you can tell it's fresh fish'. Overall, I could not find fault with the food and drink and I was genuinely pleasantly surprised at how high the standard was given my previous experience. Although the restaurant was quiet at the time we went, I can imagine that it can get rowdy when there are lots of people because the sound carries openly from one side of the room to the other (best to have private conversations somewhere else). One criticism that I would highlight is that it does lack the personal touch and the only interaction we had with the staff was when they brought our food. We did not see anyone cleaning tables or staffing the till so it had an almost eerie feeling because it felt like it was closed. I appreciate that not everyone wants that personal interaction but it would have been more welcoming and made me feel more valued if there were people around even if that was to just check back on how the food was or to say goodbye. Instead, we sidled in unaided and left the same. It just felt a bit distant and cold rather than warm and welcoming. Would I go back? Absolutely...but only when it was quiet. I think for what we paid (around £16) for two meals and two pots of tea, it was worth the money and justified the bus journey. If you are in Bishop Auckland doing some shopping and you fancy a break from the crowds, you cannot go wrong nipping in for a cuppa or something warm.

Several times I have used this cafe over the last year and there have always been long waits.. as people get vouchers checked..on this occasion.. I waited 19 minutes or more on someone coming to serve me..the cash post has been abandoned...which inspired thoughts of the Marie celeste! At one stage another customer came along too..and she asked me if she should give them a shout? I then proceeded to ask if anyone was there ? And nothing...then the lady called out ..if there was anyone there? At which point a rather sleepy girl came out and took my order..(a fish pie) and when it reached me a few minutes later it was almost stone cold..not even properly defrosted in the middle..horrendous! I complained and had it heated to a slightly warmer degree..but not fully hot.. Totally disgusted..£8 for this and a fanta.. and I would say I only enjoyed the Fanta.. I will never order a meal here again..

Me and my partner came out for a meal in your cafe at bishop Auckland, we sat down as we had decided to order online as there was a que and we were in a bit of a rush as we were waiting for my car in the garage. The first thing that went wrong was we had ordered a slush when I went to the counter to collect it the blue one wasn’t frozen and the red flavour looked to have no syrup in it so we asked for a refund and we’re told we could swap it for a bottled drink. One this was not what we wanted and two I’ve now paid significantly more for a bottle of coke. The second thing was we asked one of the waitresses “Karen” where our food was politely as we had been waiting for over half an hour and she replied to my partner saying “it’s not table 39 is it I brought that out 10 mins ago to the table number you put on the order (which was number 3 as the sticker on the table had been ripped off and should have been replaced or rectified with the table number written back on) how are we supposed to know what table it was? To this question Karen responded “you should have looked at the tables around you and seen that table is table 38 and that one is 40” both of which were occupied with people eating their food. karen also stated that if the number is crossed off then you don’t sit there, the only reason we sat here was because most other tables had dirty pots on, even this table had not been wiped. She brought our food out cold and with attitude telling us in that she was “only a waitress serving on my own”. Karen when my partner initially spoke to her immediately knew what table we were sat on as if this had happened before. I find the way she was speaking to us very disrespectful and patronising. The fact she had just taken the food back to the kitchen and not checked (there was only 10 tables it could have been some of them unoccupied) which as someone who has worked in this position before know this is a VERY simple task. I have photographic evidence of the fact your table numbers aren’t up to scratch and if the QR system can have such faults such as not labling items out of stock and damaged table numbers then it should not be in use. This message was sent to Morrisons yet I have not had a response. Shame on them.

First and last time. We visited after shopping and decided to call in for a bite to eat. Self ordering system had only one machine working. Queued to be served at the till, assistant there was leaning on the counter. Ordered food to be told it was a 30min wait despite it not being busy. Yet again only one coffee machine was working and there was no milk in the second. Eventually got an assistant to fill the machine. Teapot didn’t have a tea bag so again had to ask. No brown sauce or salt. When food arrived there was only half of the order as part had been missed by assistant at the ordering point. Absolutely dreadful experience, never to be repeated.

Breakfast has gone down hill in 3 years since I last left a message. We waited 15 minutes then what we got was COLD and not worth £18.00The cappuccino was 1/2 full and STONE COLD.

Great food, great service, especially from Dan who works there, genuinely nice person who always goes out his way to help

Staffing was bit of issue. Lady was lively on till but not very tech savvy. She would been better on another task with it being busy queue for customers. There was queue forming and she struggled. Wasn't her fault but if her supervisor had assigned her with a more suitable task. Fine let her on till at quieter times build her confidence up but at peak times a more competent colleague needs take control. When food came breakfast was absolutely lush. We would come back again

It’s a while since I used the restaurant and it will be a long time before I go back again. I’ve just had the worst fish and chips I have ever had in my life. I was served a rock hard portion of batter with no sign of any fish anywhere and to top it off a Luke warm cappuccino absolutely disgusting.
