“From the minute we arrived we were made to feel welcome, this was down the to friendly service of all (front of house staff). We felt the service was well managed, all courses arrived in good succession and were delicious. We did not feel rushed at all, as some reviews stated. The menu was very informative and there was a wide range of dishes catering for all. Would definitely recommend and will definitely return.”

“When we stayed last time, the restaurant was closed, but the chef rustled up a superb meal that we ate in the bar. We had been looking forward to choosing from the full menu and were not dissapointed. Lovely authentic and tasty food, friendly & prompt service and good atmosphere. Just a pity that it's 260 miles from where we live.”

“What fantastic food! Just collected a chicken Madras and a chicken Tikka Bhuna. It was delicious! I’ve tried a number of India restaurants in the Durham area and this is by far the best. Staff were really friendly and my food was piping hot. Will definitely come again. Thanks for a truly superb meal.”

“We arrived in a busy Durham (students starting at Uni) for a meal at Alishaans. When we arrived at 5.30pm it was empty when we left it was packed out. It’s a very popular restaurant, and we can see why. Great location, smart interior, great, helpful staff and most important, the food was excellent. We had 2 courses each, a mixed platter Alishan, (tikka chicken, veg pakora, sheek kebab and a small bhuna prawn on puri) for my daughter and tandoori king prawn for me. For mains my daughter had tikka chicken Makhoni and I had the Tikka chicken Kharai. We had rice, chips, poppadoms and naan breads as sundries. All of the meal was spot on with the staff able to help with the choices. There is a sister restaurant in Sunderland too which is closer to our home but we’d have no problem visiting both. A great treat out.”

“Great food and delivered quickly. My curry was nicely spicy but still wonderfully flavoured.Vegetarian options: Broadly just veggie curry and paneer, pretty much what you'd expect, tasty though.”

“This place ticks boxes with ease. The staff are like old friends bringing poppadoms and pickle trays. The lime pickle hit the spot. When my chefs special kebab starter came, it was just the right amount to awaken my hunger. juicey chicken tikka and tastey sheekh and morish lamb tikka. When the main of lamb rogan josh bhuna came to the table with a garlic naan and saag aloo all of witch was more than enough to be shared with my partner. It wasn't the first time I've eaten there, and it will not be the last. Well worth it”
