We went here for my husbands 40th Birthday. From the start the service was impeccable and the staff were very good with our dog Ozzy getting him water and checking in etc. Its brilliant such a lovely restaurant accomodates dogs in their own little area of the resturant. The food was absolutely stunning. We had scallops and lamb belly to start and both had lamp rump for main and chocolate fondant for dessert. Best food weve had in longer than we can remember. Im 6 months pregnant and needed all meat well done with no pink which wasnt a problem and the chef/staff even hand picked desserts for me which were suitable and let me choose from the lunch menu to accommodate my needs with my pregnancy. 100% recommend this place to anyone it was a faultless evening.

We had a great meal here on Tuesday this week.

We sat outside and a lovely waitress came and cheerfully helped us put some tables together. She was really friendly and explained the menu option to us perfectly. She was very attentive, extremely knowledgeable and really made us feel welcome.

We didn't wait long for the food either, which was fabulous. Great portions, nice and hot and really tasty.

My husband was also really impressed with the selection of drinks on tap too.

So an absolute winner all round.

The only way to describe Ravello's food is perfect! We went a few weeks ago, the food, the service and the atmosphere was fantastic. There was 7 of us and we many of the starters, the few that stood out were the mussels, the black pudding stack and the calamari rings. All of the starters were excellent! The mains were once again outstanding the steaks were cooked to perfection. The pasta's were delicious especially the carbonara! The prawns that were on the surf and turf were incredible. The desserts were delicious as well. We all had a great evening and would definitely recommend a visit!

We booked zen for a little anniversary dinner yesterday as we were tired of the same restaurants and it came up in a blog about good places to eat. We were more than impressed, the menu has a great variety of food, it came out hot and fresh and was absolutely delicious. Thaipas basket is a great way to sample a few dishes and the dried beef and thai green curry were incredible. We went for our friend’s birthday and I couldn’t praise enough. For drinks we had watermelon and basil cooler and it was really refreshing also the pink lemonade had perfect fizz and sweetness. We tried the Mozzarella & Ricotta Arancini, Garlic & Paprika Prawns and theAsian Buttermilk Fried Chicken. The small bites were so good, chicken was tender and crispy, prawns sourdough was burst of flavours fresh and buttery with sprinkle of paprika.
For the mains we had Malvani chicken curry, Korean burger, spinach chicken and sticky Asian salad. Dont know where to start but I would 10/10 recommend this place. Great place for celebrations and date nights. The ambiance was top notch as well.

Fantastic all rounder!
We were visiting friends and they were insistent we go here for my birthday dinner. Their little boy told us all about his best friend that worked there so we couldn't not.
The bar lady, his best friend, was definitely very lovely, the service was fast and friendly and the food was perfect.
What I loved was that it's hard going out with children - finding somewhere that does food they like, keeps them entertained, but mainly I worry about putting other dinners out I worry they may be having a kid free night and don't want them to be stuck next to noisy kids - this pub is very well layed out that there are different areas for each reason you're there. So I felt comfortable having my children, knowing there was another section people without kids could go sit.

This restaurant legit changed my mind towards fish and chips- used to find this dish just okay until I've tried the haddock here. I appreciate the half salad option as imo it makes the dish less heavy. The salad is also very fresh and they seemed to use seasonal ingredients - loved the strawberries and pomegranate seeds.

Haddock actually tasted flavourful (I usually find the fish in fish and chip dishes lacking flavour but not this one!), and the batter was not too thick or oily which I liked. The chips were amazing as well, probably cooked in beef dripping (?) and I like how they're not too undercooked and are crispy (again, I find many fish and chips dishes' chips a bit undercooked and mushy for my liking, but not this one).

All in all I'm really impressed especially considering that Durham isn't located next to the sea. After this meal I kept craving for more fish and chips, which I never would've believed I would before trying them here. Would absolutely recommend this place.

Pizza Nova has quickly become my go-to local takeaway when I’m craving quality pizza. From the moment you walk in, the place is clean, well-organised, and the staff are always polite and efficient. We had such a lovely experience at Zizzi’s in Durham! Our server, Jack, was absolutely amazing – hard to believe it was only his second shift. Chapter Two Cafe

Me and my wife were out test-driving cars when we thought to stop off for some brunch at Chapter Two Cafe. The café – which occupies a deceptively unassuming building at the edge of Mandale Business Park in Durham – is roomy on the inside, and the available seating space is well laid out. The interiors are modern, clean and well maintained.

The menu items are fairly priced, dare I say a bargain, and the menu as a whole is large but well-organised. In other words, there is a vast range of options, yet it is easy to find what you want.

I opted for the ‘create your own breakfast sandwich’ (and I love a café that offers this) with black pudding, sausage and a fried egg, and my wife chose the Chapter 2 Special, which is a generously sized full English breakfast that comes with a tea or coffee. Brown sauce and red sauce (or ketchup, as you may know it) are provided on the table. Service is friendly, and the food is delivered quickly.

Now for the most important part: the food was delicious. The bread bun, sausage and egg in my sandwich were flawless, and the Chapter 2 Special saw my wife clear the plate (with a little help from yours truly). My only criticism – and it is a minor one – is that my black pudding was slightly underdone.

Called in to this lovely, old style pub with my daughters and granddaughters to watch the Lioness game against Spain on the way up to Edinburgh. Warmly greeted by the Landlord and his regulars. Emma from The Kitchen catered our large family celebration meal when we were staying nearby at The Castle at Eden. She couldn’t have been more helpful, catering for a 3 course meal for 25 people mix of vegetarian, meat eaters and gluten free. Everyone loved their food and the huge chocolate fudge birthday cake was one of the best cakes I have ever had! They even brought all their own plates and cutlery so we didn’t have to wash up. Would highly recommend!

Me and my family highly recommend this place! The rooms were clean, cozy and very comfortable. The restaurant and pub was a real highlight - the food was tasty and we really enjoyed the local dishes and fun activities (like karaoke night) in the pub?
The atmosphere was great and friendly - the owners Sandra and Michael were absolutely amazing – they went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable.

Great spot for brunch, we had salmon, scrambled egg on sourdough toast. All of the ingredients were very fresh and well cooked. Decaff americano to drink too which was average given the price. Had a 10 minute wait to be seated as this appears to be the only non chain sit down brunch place in Durham. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, and are obviously trained to a high standard.
