With it being a beautiful sunny day in Durham, the family and I thought we would find somewhere to sit down and have a drink. We thought this was thr perfect location, right by the river with outside seating, watching the boats go by.We went to sit down and was told very firmly, no kids allowed!!Instead of questioning the reason why, we just accepted it and took our business elsewhere. This place is obviously not family friendly. Such a shame considering the beautiful location it is in.Definitely won't be returning.

This was without a doubt the WORST steak I’ve ever eaten. I Ordered the porter house steak at £44.95 to be cooked medium. This steak came out looking anaemic and tasted just as bad. I’ve honestly never had such a terrible steak, it had very little taste and was full of sinew. I complained as as I got a little more than half way through my steak(The girl who served me was more than helpful) only to be told that this was normal. And was offered a free drink or desert. No! This steak cost £44.95, had no taste and I do expect to leave what I would say I not far from half as it was inedible sue to been mostly sinew! myMy partner and I don’t very often get out as we have children and if this is normal leave a description on your menu of this steak will come out with no taste and he prepared to leave at least £20 worth on your plate. Neither the manager or chef came over to speak to us about this and left the waitress to sort this out . However it was both of them that were fine to send a £44.95 steak out to a paying customer. Absolutely shocking!! Never again and I will be telling everyone to avoid!

The food was average for the price, although our table had been booked for approx 7.30pm they had ran out of beef dripping chips, duck, pork and fish pakora, disappointing esp when entertaining visitors.

To start with the food was good, the 3 stars are based on the very disappointing lack of options. Far too many options not available and the fact that triple cooked chips (which came with every meal we ordered) was also not available. This was at 7:30 !!

Best brunch we have ever done .Food perfect and drinks were flowing.Sunday at 6pm was perfect as it was quieter than other days .What made it even better was the staff. Thanks to Alex,Steven and Dom for giving us constant attention and being friendly .

Four of us took advantage of the Durham Restaurant week and had a splendid 3 course lunch for £20. An absolute bargain. The steak was superb and all the courses were tasty and plentiful.Thoroughly enjoyed the meal and service. Many thanks

Watch out they try to force a service charge on you. Remeber unless you want to end up like USA deny this predatory tipping culture.

A little quiet for a Saturday afternoon but this meant you could get outside by the river. We could not get booked in for bottomless brunch due to being fully

Came for bottomless brunch and it was brilliant! The Boat Club is set in such a fabulous location with amazing views off the river. Food and drinks were just perfect! But it was the staff team who made the day, especially Gracie who was just brilliant! Thank you.

One of my favourite bars in Durham with great drinks and drink deals. Never been for food but keep returning for those 2 for 1

The bartender barely acknowledged my presence as he poured a lackluster drink from a bottle that looked like it hadn't been replaced in years. Absolutely disgusted by the behaviour of the staff. Do yourself a favour and avoid this wretched establishment unless you have deep-seated desire for disappointment and regret.

Staff were so rude, they served multiple people before us despite us being first. We’ve been before and it was fine but this felt racist and highly uncomfortable. Will not be going back.
