New owners are really friendly and helpful, the service is excellent. Cod is thick loin and very tasty. Big improvement on last owners and worth a try.

Just bought fish and chips takeaway worst fish and chips we have ever purchased. The fish ( if was cod) was bland mine had a large bone in it the batter was pale yellow looked uncooked. The chips were hard on the outside and just as tasteless, don’t get me started on the mushy peas! What has happened to this place !

we went in while there were only a few people and saw most people leave over the course of an hour, food took quite a while to come out as there was only one server who we saw multiple times on her phone and doing nothing, when the food came out fish and gravy were lovely however some chips were stone cold and raw, the tea pot was filthy with a layer of dust on it and multiple items of cutlery had dirt. it’s clear the owner has just left the young inexperienced servers to fend for themselves as they had to be reminded multiple times to bring things out and when told about the horrible quality they just stood there with blank looks and took the money.

Totally overpriced. Owner hiked prices while tall ships were here. I get the greed but at least use quality ingredients/condiments and have some respect for your business.

Terrible. How you can justify the price, £56 for a family of 4, 3 standard portions and 1 small and drinks, them to have the cheek to service Asdaa cheapest ketchup. I'd never go back, the fish wasn't great either.

Ordered 2 americanos 1cappucino and 1 latte plus 3 cakes. After a long wait 4 very weak white coffees arrived, virtually just milk and water. The cakes arrived 15 minutes later after after having to ask.I will never go there again, it was £26 wasted.

Wow, where to start. Visited today on a trip to the Tall Ships and called in here to get my 7 year old some chips. £4 for a few chips, which he binned most of after queuing for about 20 mins and served by rude staff, but will give them the benefit of doubt, it was busy. Whilst we were there, myself and wife thought we’d have a bit of cake each. Advertised at £3.95, I thought it was steep but hey ho. Paid and went to sit outside. Opened the cake, and it had been microwaved onto a different planet, had to wait about 10 mins for it to cool enough to touch. It was so hot that the sauce had crusted onto the polystyrene container of my wife’s cake (wish I’d taken a picture of that). We asked for a fork to be told there were none left (nb it has a restaurant, and also the person in front bought fish chips and mushy peas for £12.95 I think it was and was expected to eat with his fingers). I then started totting up the amount I had been charged (1 chips, 2 cake, 3 cans of pop = £18.40). Went in to check the menu and it should have come to £16.40 according to the menu on display. To then be told by one of the rude staff members the cake is actually £4.95 for the tall ship event. I said you can’t advertise one price and charge another, to then be told menus were outside and it was all over their Facebook page. Still to find evidence of either and it seems only the cakes had changed in prices. They refused a refund of the £2, not really bothered but it’s the principal especially for the disgusting food. To be fair, one of the staff offered to give it to me out of their own pocket to which I said don’t bother, just put it in your tips jar. I also heard swearing from the staff as the stress levels mounted due to how busy it was. They clearly hadn’t accounted for the Tall Ships event and couldn’t cope with it, must have been a complete surprise for them as I bet there was not advertising of it for them to prepare (other than to increase some prices). All in all, avoid at all costs. Rude staff, awful food and overpriced. To end on a positive though, the cans of pop were cold, although sold out of Diet Coke
