Called in randomly this morning for breakfast, as we were in Seaham for the market. Well presented cafe with a friendly vibe. Moving onto to the food, great prices on the menu and fantastic selection. I’ve had a few breakfast in my time and I don’t like the word perfect but this was close. The breakfast was cooked fantastically. The hash browns had a “different fromNormal taste”, gorgeous! The sausages were out of this world with a taste I’ve never had before. Nothing was over done, everything was cooked brilliantly and the black pudding (cost a little extra with the large breakfast)……..I’m going to say it……was the best black pudding I’ve ever tasted. Crispy, and not over powering due to its size, with a taste to die for. Top breakfast, would highly recommend and defiantly be returning when in the area. 5 star from us.

Asked for extra shot for coffee. Was told that’s the way it comes. Beacon sandwich was also very poor. next time in the area will be avoiding poppies

Had visitors from Cumbria and took them to Seaham Lighthouse Cafe for lunch today. Two of them chose the "all day breakfast" which looked and tasted delicious. One chose a chip butty which was lots of home cooked chips in a soft boat shaped bun.All followed by a substantial piece of chocolate cake with fresh cream. We were all impressed by the quality and the price of the food. Definitely will be back soon. Highly recommended.

Visited today with the family for lunch. Very impressed with the service and food. Staff were friendly and food very tasty and fresh, especially the home made chips. Nice atmosphere and chilled environment. Looking forward to returning ?

Extremely long wait for some incredibly overcooked chips bordering on inedible. we did not enjoy the food, only ate because we are both diabetic and needed to eat. Table next to us were going to ask for a refund and leave, but the food arrived just then, they wished they had asked for a refund as the food was that poor.... Very much doubt we will be back, shame it used to be so good....

I was recommended to visit this cafe from Australia and it did not disappoint. From the fast and friendly service to the fresh and delicious food. Would highly recommend to everyone and will definitely be going back.

Turkish options are different from anything else near by and and taste incredible. The homemade chips are top tier and it’s all reasonably price.

This used to be a wonderful place to visit, all members of staff were friendly, the food was always piping hot, well portioned and very reasonable. It has undergone a few changes, one being the name - now named "The Lighthouse by Poppies". It seems the new owners have made a few changes, the decor has been vastly improved, however there are couple of new members of staff who just aren't as friendly. Furthermore, the quality of the food is terrible compared to all our previous visits. The chips which used to be absolutely wonderful are now terrible - I'm not certain if a different oil is being used, but the quality is just not there, and the meal was also served warm as opposed to hot. To add to this, the prices are much more expensive, even a can of coke is £1.50 - a can that came from a multipack! I'm afraid what was a regular place and a highlight of Seaham has now been crossed off the list. Finally, a "Traditional Turkish Breakfast"... It's an English cafe for goodness sake!!!
