Stopped for lunch in the cozy yurt on the way to Newcastle. Soup and sausage rolls were delicious. Staff were lovely. Clean and welcoming. Will definitely be using as a pitstop again.

The castle closes for winter at the end of October. The yurt cafe is OK

It was full of wasps when we went, but that wasn't influential on this review, we spent an arm and a leg on a couple of coffees and sausage sandwiches with sausages that were clearly left to sit in a hotplate, dry with tough skin. Probably the most expensive place I've eaten in a long time for below average food.Don't be fooled, it's just a tent rammed with as many tables and chairs as physically possible and no real kitchen. I don't know how they've managed to glorify this yurt, but they've only put it there because they're doing work on the stables. It's the equivalent of someone closing a decent restaurant to do some work on it and opening a breakfast van outside, but with the spin if putting it inside a tent.I should add, most of these high rating reviews are about the castle and not so much about the cafe.

Superb coffee, Nata tarts and friendly service, sitting outside with a tremendous view of Raby Castle.

I payed £7.20 for an oat milk flat white (£3.85?!) and a decaf cappuccino (£3.35). The yurt is beautiful, but that doesn’t make up for the fact that both of our coffees turned out to be white americanos. Overpriced for what you get. I won’t be coming back.

A great place to stop off for a drink and a bite to eat. Not just the usual food options with some great pies and pastries. Plenty of tables both inside and out. Staff were all really friendly and helpful

Over priced and overcrowded can't comment on service or food as could get in very poorly thought out considering some of the buildings available on the estate to have suitable facilities.

I really feel The Yurt’ cafe really needs to up its game.Firstly, on arrival the food on offer no way resembled the menu featured online. When I asked the staff about hot food, it was a cold, wet miserable day, I was told the menu next to the till was ‘ hot food’There was nothing substantial on offer, all on bread of some kind.I ordered two ham and pease pudding stotties. Both arrive cold, I was then told they could heat the filling in the microwave!!! I think that was rather ambitious as the filling in the very thick bread rolls had been scrapped on and off.I then changed mine for the parsnip soup which was very thin and watery. The hot drinks were served in take a way cups and the cold in very small, thin plastic cups.I wouldn’t advise a visit to ‘ The Yurt’ it is overpriced and very poor.I certainly won’t be returning.

Nicely presented food, homemade sausage roll was really fresh with plenty of flavour, drinks recieved as requested teabag left out water, freshly made sandwiches well presented.

Having many of great lunches at the old stables cafe, the offering at the new Yurt was disappointing. Nice atmosphere but hot drinks were up to standard. Coffees were cold and hot chocolates were not mixed through leaving large lumps of cocoa powder at the bottom of cups. Not sure if takeaway cups are temporary, but this was also a big disappointment.
