Absolutely wonderful in every way…5*….. nothing to fault and will be back.Highly recommend and wait (5mins) was not bad for a Sunday lunchtime.

Vanessa's Cafe is our favourite cafe in Beverley. Food excellent, prices very good and fantastic staff. I cannot recommend it highly enough ?

Went here today whilst staying nearby. The queue was BAD, took us 40 minutes to get a table. After such a wait, we were expecting more tbh.The food was OK, nothing to rave about. It's not cheap either for what you get.The place lacks atmosphere as well, we were sat towards the front of the house upstairs and it was a little dark for my liking and could have had some better decor or accessories to create a country feel ambience.Give the place a try to make your own mind up. it's not for us.

We ordered a Beef Wellington from the butchery department for new years eve. It was supposed to serve 4 people, but I'm sure it would have easily stretched to 6 portions. It was beautifully prepared and came with gravy in a separate container. Very easy to cook,. It was delicious, very tender too. Thank you.

Busier and just as popular as ever so glad we booked a table in advance. The staff are always welcoming and friendly and checked our table without being overwhelming. The full English breakfast (with a veggie option as well as a smaller selection for those not wanting to take on the substantial full plate) was delicious, hot and filling. Great selection of hot, cold and some alcoholic drinks as well as desserts which, alas, we had no space for. Never mind there’s always a takeout option. Great pre-Christmas meeting with family and friends and can’t wait to return early in the New Year.

Lovely cafe and shop. We arrived at 9 when it opened and it was already full by around 9.30! Clearly very popular. Food was lovely, and a bonus that you can order off the full menu all day, so we had loads of choice. Only negative was the food took a while to come and it was quite chilly inside.

Bought a steak pie a few weeks ago but when I got home and warmed it up,it was a chicken pie. Ok mistakes can happen.Called in again today for a steak pie, warmed it up,turned out to be a CARROT pie! as that's all that was in it apart from 3 small chewy bits of steak. £5.25 a pie. Won't be calling again. Everything in the shop is overpriced.

We came for cake and drinks when the Christmas festival was on and were lucky that only 2 groups of people waiting for tables in front of us. After queueing for half an hour on the stairs we were eventually shown to a table. While waiting, I enquired about gluten free cakes for my husband and was surprised with how many choices there were. He’d already chosen the g/f chocolate brownie before being seated. When the older waitress came to take our order she informed my husband there wasn’t any brownie and only 3 choices for him. I called Hannah the very helpful waitress over who had told us about the brownie and said that they did indeed have some. I felt the older waitress didn’t want us to have it as after the discussion she asked my husband if he’d like lemon and coconut tart instead! No he wanted the brownie . The brownie when it arrived was delicious apparently and would have been good if all the staff knew which products were available for peoples allergies. My daughter in law had ordered a gingerbread latte which came with a gingerbread biscuit and wasn’t told that there weren’t any available but still charged the full price. And before finishing our coffees and cakes they came to bring our bill which I placed under my phone, they then returned with the card machine and picked up my phone to grab the bill and asked us to pay before finishing. We understand they were busy but felt very rushed, misinformed about their produce and after enjoying our visits in the past it’s put us off returning in a hurry, which is a shame.

I have visited Vanessa in Beverley on numerous occasions and on the whole have been satisfied with the Ambience and Food, but their Hygiene Standards fell well below what is acceptable the last time I was there. We sat outside on this occasion as the Cafe itself was full, we ordered a pot of tea for 2 only to be presented with 2 heavily stained cups and spoons! as well as a milk jug with old cream on! Not only is this unacceptable, I am amazed the Assistant didn't notice! For me, this one occasion cancels out anything else and am reluctant to go there again.

We arrived about 3 pm for a late lunch. The meal was delicious and piping hot. I had smoked haddock chowder and my partner had mushrooms with goats cheese. The portions were ample and the artisan bread delicious. Only grouch was the time it took to place and order and the long wait for food. Worth it though!

Great Buddha Bowls from the deli. While not low-cost, the choice of salads for the Buddha Bowls is always excellent. They are freshly made, with inventive combinations of ingredients. Apart from a few staples, the choices change regularly. They must take a lot of making! Really enjoy them-a healthy treat.

Really nice gluten free breakfast & homemade hash browns ? My friend enjoyed her fish cakes. Coffee was good too. Friendly servers. Thank you.

Very disappointing, considering the good reviews we’d read. First, we’d booked, but the table we were directed to was squeezed in between two other already occupied tables. They weren’t especially busy and thinking about it we should have been offered a choice of tables. We were so close we could have eaten off our neighbour’s plates and it was impossible to have a conversation without being overheard. Second, they welcome dogs and the one that arrived next to us plonked it’s snout on our table. It might not have done this if Vanessa’s had tables a little further apart or if they had an area specifically for owners with pets. Third one of the knives we received wasn’t clean, so I asked for another one - no apology! Fourth my sultana scone was so dry and so crumbly it disintegrated when I cut it in half and attempted to spread anything on it. Fifth the coffee came with a tiny piece of complimentary flapjack - this was undercooked and tasted of raw flour, so I spat it out. We didn’t make a fuss, but obviously won’t be going again.

Called for lunch, we didn't have a reservation but they pushed a couple of tables together to accommodate us with no issue. The food was very nice and well presented and the staff were pleasant and friendly. It's a little gem, will call

Sat outside during Saturday market. The young waitress was friendly and listened to our needs. The coffee is very good and the cakes delicious, we didn’t have lunch but will return as the sandwiches looked lovely.
