We had the 4 course taster menu and wow it was amazing. Will certainly be back. Everything perfect. Lovely staff.

I ate at three Michelin recommended restaurants in Beverley, and Whites was clearly the best. Just outside the North Bar, it is a small restaurant with only a handful of well-spaced tables and a calm feel to it. That is helped by the soft jazz music which puts you in a relaxed mood right away. I liked it so much that I wanted to buy the albums but was told that this was just a compilation that the chef himself had put together. Whites has an imaginative 9-course tasting menu, but before the first course even appeared, I was brought four delicious little canapés, including a venison tartlet with 30-month-old parmesan. The tasting menu then proceeded to impress with such delights as East Coast lobster, Lincolnshire smoked eel, new season partridge, and Yorkshire lamb rump. I would also recommend the 9 matching wines—they came from many countries around the globe, including New Zealand and Chile, as well as the more familiar Spain, Portugal, and California, and were paired nicely with each dish. The service was impeccable, and both the waitress and the waiter were not only knowledgeable about the food and wines, but happy to linger to answer any questions in more depth. And the young waiter, Sam, had a smile for everyone that could melt ice. As I left, I appreciated the fact that the chef came out to exchange a few friendly words with me. My evening at Whites was one of the real highlights of my stay in Beverley. You could not be disappointed with a dinner at Whites, but given the modest number of tables, you should definitely book in advance. They richly deserve their commendation by Michelin.

Our 9 course tasting menu was wonderfully served and paced, lasting 3 hours, not rushed. The plates kept flowing to us, served in a variety of beautiful dishes to complement the food. One of my favorites was the smoked eel with horseradish mousse, pickled cucumber, and sea purslane. Then again, the Yorkshire lamb rump with mint and pumpkin seed pesto, lamb shank croquette, black garlic was exquisite. The most tender lamb imaginable beyond any meat I have experienced. It was hard to resist not filling up on the delicious crusty muffin shaped bread and butter. One of the 3 of us is a fine cook herself, and her mental wheels were spinning as she described her inspired plans to incorporate some of these ideas into her future creations. The menu is fixed. The owner/chef John Robinson is an artist and worked in the kitchen by himself with two servers in such a relaxing peaceful environment, four other tables aside from us. At the end, we asked if we could take the paper menu as a souvenir and the chef autographed it and came out to chat as we left. During our stay in Beverley, we certainly enjoyed our fish and chips, falafel, and home made meals at our Airbnb. White’s was my highlight, a special night out for a treat. I have returned home now and am far away in Massachusetts USA. If I ever return to Beverley, a reservation at White’s will be first on my list.

World class cooking that reminded me what a great restaurant experience can be. Every dish is inventive, delicious and memorable. I can’t believe more people don’t know about this absolute gem.

A better than solid option for an intriguing evening out dining. I think most people will be very pleased with the dishes and the small, bespoke ambiance. There wasn't anything I didn't think was good. Not amazing but well worth a trip.

My first visit post Covid and even better than ever. The food was superb, the waitress friendly, helpful and knowledgable. Every morsel was exquisite. If I had to find one fault it would be the flimsy paper napkins. Small niggles but Whites is outstanding cuisine and deserves better

Superb. I had heard so much I wondered if it would be that good. It was. The 9 course tasting menu was out of this world. The service was excellent, we were never rushed and just felt looked after with professionalism without fuss. A wonderful experience with that extra wow factor.

Go here. Treat yourself. You won’t have any regrets. It will give you happy memories and a conversation topic for years to come. You may attempt to recreate some of the delightful dishes, you won’t be able to. You will need to return! Thank you chef!

We ate at Whites on 31st May and chose the 4 course tasting menu. It has only occasionally happened to us, that the canapés are so delicious that we’re tempted to ask for a couple more servings of those, and cancel the 4 courses. They were that good, the highlights being the black pudding and the spider crab. We found the decor and the ambience absolutely perfect, simple, understated yet classy. A few weeks ago we did our once-in-a-lifetime trip to Le Manoir and we both agreed that when it comes solely to plated food, John Robinson’s dishes were easily ‘up there’ with those. For me, the asparagus mousse was divine, like nothing I’ve tasted before. All in all, a really enjoyable evening and very good value for money. Thank you chef!

We only recently heard about this restaurant & as non vegetarian, non vegan, without allergies & intolerances food wise we felt able to book. The dining room is small, comfortable & smart and service was very efficient & friendly. We opted for the 9 course tasting menu & we weren’t disappointed. Highlights were the asparagus mousse- so smooth with intense flavour, the wild garlic veloute & the melting smoked cheddar, the tete du moine with truffled honey-great demonstration of how 2 ingredients can make a yummy dish. Great food, enjoyable experience ( apart from a fellow diner who was loud, opinionated, an expert in everything and a pompous bore) Good value for money at £75 for the 9 courses plus 4 canapés, we will return

We were bought vouchers for Whites for Christmas and were looking forward to our visit. We love tasting menus and when we travel we look for really good restaurants. We found Whites to be average overall. The canapés were great, but after that we were disappointed with the flavours, the pork dish definitely needed a jus with it just to add further depth.

We had the 4 course tasting menu (available Wednesdays and Thursdays) which was wonderful. We started with 3 complementary canapés along with a home made loaf of bread - all delicious. This was followed by a soup, fish course, meat course and dessert all of which contained some lovely tastes. The service was excellent. We asked the chef to suggest which wine would be best with our menu and he went for a very reasonable white. When we booked we were asked about any allergies and dislikes and these were followed to the letter. It’s quite small and the atmosphere is friendly if somewhat quiet. A really lovely couple of hours.
