The best cocktail bar in Hull by a mile. Friendly staff and a changing menu to pique your interest. Classics are also available. The pizzas are delicious. Get yourself there on a Sunday for the regular Brain Jar quiz. Really good fun.

Attended the Sunday quiz which was only £2 to join, it was very entertaining with a great atmosphere and the food was great too! Will be returning here to do the quiz again and get some food!

Very bohemian bar in city centre... Cocktails and bottle beers are the offerings. Table service excellent. Mojito £9 plus free table water and good sounds from the speakers.

What a fantastic place to spend the evening! We travelled down from Scotland and were meeting up with some friends and opted for the brain jar. We were not disappointed! The bar is full of character and unlike many other cocktail bars the brain jar has opted for a less corporate feel and they pull it off remarkably well. I like seating arrangement, wall art and choice of music which was just at the right volume. Loud enough to notice the music but not too loud where you are having to shout. The effort from the staff was one of the best I’ve experienced in a long time. Our table was looked after by Matt who could not have done any more to accommodate us. The choice of cocktails was out of this world with the Pina verdi being my favorite. I especially liked the layout of the cocktail menu which lists the ingredients but also gives the drink a description. If it wasn’t so hard to say I’m might have went for the Humuhumunukunukuapua’a ! As for food I chose the Sesame Street pizza which had a nice little kick to it. The pizza had plenty of topping and the base and crust were cooked perfectly. On the whole a great evening in a great place with great people I will definitely be returning to the brain jar. Well done

Fabulous cocktails, whether from the classic or seasonal selection. I can particularly recommend the Penicillin and the amaretto and cherry sour. The servers are friendly and knowledgeable and it’s the little touches like bringing you water and the attention to detail on the drinks like a personalised card with the birthday cake cocktail that elevate this to a higher level. Will definitely be back, loved it.

Great atmosphere & packed to the rafters on a Sat night. I wish I could sit and drink every cocktail on the menu, but had to be satisfied with an amazing vodka martini, a delicious tiramisu thing, and then something else that I can't quite remember... Fun was had ?

Had one of the best cocktails of my life here! The staff were so friendly and enthusiastic about their work, taking the time to talk us through the ideas behind the drinks. The pizza was excellent too, will definitely be going back and recommending to friends!

Great experience here. We was here for just over 5 hours. We were originally only going to have one or two drinks.. Fab decor, funky music amazing range of tasty cocktails. And the pizza was delicious as well. Really nice welcoming staff and unlimited free water. I would highly recommend and come

Situated in the heart of the pedestrian area of the city centre. Arranged over several floors this venue has a mix of seating with full table service. There is a great range of cocktails, all around £10. Trendy young waiting staff are friendly and helpful.

I really liked this when I first came with a group of friends, the food was great and the cocktails were fantastic, and the staff were great. However I went recently, and a member of staff who throughout the visit was quite friendly and welcoming, decided it was fine for people to vape behind me inside the bar, which honestly made me feel very unwelcome as an asthmatic and is also quite frankly illegal. So I don't feel like I will be able to return.
