Stopped in for a tea and a cake, I was recommended the custard-filled donut and it did not disappoint! All the cakes looked so good, everyone was very friendly.

Tried this two weeks ago on an impromptu visit to Battle, and so glad I did! The sausage rolls were amazing and the tea is piping hot. I think prices are reasonable, and having been several times in the last two weeks, haven’t found a cake, bread, or pastry that I didn’t like, and we’ve tried a lot; bread pudding, Viennese whirls, jam doughnuts, chicken and mushroom pie, crusty rolls, sesame bloomer loaf, iced bun, Eccles cake etc.Everything that a bakery should be; polite service, delicious bakes, and I’m glad I don’t live in Battle otherwise I would be there every day and put on at least 2 stone! My partner and I have tried other cafe’s on Battle’s high street and had rude service, so we will be loyal customers of Battle Bakes and Cakes from now on. Thank you!

We liked this cafe today because they include a hot drink with breakfast, all cooked well, friendly service, nice cakes. No frills but reasonably priced.

The perfect spot to have a cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate with some of those many delicious baked goods on display. Sit down and enjoy the atmosphere, the food and the friendly and timely service.

Went in here to grab lunch with a co worker, the food was great, but was really disappointed by how we were treated by one employee. My co worker was nothing but friendly and happy and the employee seemed to struggle to even grant her eye contact or more than one word replies. She really gave off the attitude that she couldn't stand having us in the room. Once we payed for our items we went to sit down until the employee called across the cafe that we hadn't payed 'eat-in' prices, effectively asking us to leave. At no point did she ask if we were staying or going. I'm stunned at the lack of hospitality as we were clearly working for charity services. I really hope that this employee was simply having a bad day, and that it didn't have to do with the colour of my coworker's skin. Really expected better.

Best cup of tea. We were spoilt with the choice of cakes, bread and pastries, all home made on the premises. Prices were reasonable, locals said this is the best bakery in town, proved by the fact that there was a constant stream of satisfied customers.

Had a Black Forest Gateau made for my Dads Birthday and it did not disappoint , was lovely. I was also pleased with how it was presented and would recommend. I would definitely go back. Also when ringing up to order it the staff were very polite and helpful and just couldn't fault them at all.

Amazing cakes provided for a family funeral. The staff couldn’t have been more understanding and helpful and made the whole process so easy. A feast of cup cakes, doughnuts, brownies, millionaires shortbread, pastries and rocky roads were delivered direct to the venue and surpassed all expectations, and superb value for money. Would not hesitate to recommend this business.
